POSITION: Facilities Maintenance Technician
This position follows all provisions of the UTU/SMART TD collective bargaining agreement.
SPECIALTY: Loading Bridge Technician
REPORTS TO: Facilities Manager Supervisor
AIRPORT: Albany International Airport
SUMMARY
Performs duties as assigned. As a specialist maintains and repairs passenger loading bridges. Performs routine preventive maintenance and mechanical repairs on bridges in accordance with factory guidelines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES including the following. Other duties may be assigned.
+ Performs daily operational checks on bridges and attached appliances, including 400HZ ground power units, P/C air units and luggage lifts.
+ Performs prescribed preventive maintenance checks to include necessary minor repairs, adjustments and lubrication at specified intervals as outline in preventive maintenance schedule.
+ Makes adjustments and repairs as directed by Loading Bridge Mechanic
+ Assists Loading Bridge Mechanic with preventive maintenance and repairs, as directed.
+ Supplies Loading Bridge Mechanic with lists of needed parts and materials.
+ Informs Loading Bridge Mechanic of deficiencies found during daily operational checks.
+ Maintains parts and supplies inventory in shop.
+ Responds to emergency callbacks for equipment breakdowns, as required.
+ Performs the work of a Building Maintenance Worker as required.
+ Participates in Total Quality Management programs.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
+ High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
+ Minimum of two years mechanical background in the fields of machinery or construction trades equipment.
+ Good working knowledge of gear, chain and bearing power transmission systems, safety interlock control and electric motor drive and braking systems.
+ Proficient in the operation of a variety of power tools, including air compressors, power washer and hydraulic porta-power; and the operation of articulating boom and scissors type lifts.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSE, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess a valid New York State driver’s license as a condition of employment.
