Job Description:

Senior Research Specialist, 3M Company, St. Paul, Minnesota: Lead technical research and development in low surface energy coatings, abrasion and chemically resistant hardcoats, self-healing coatings and multifunctional coatings. Developing a technology from lab to pilot scale to manufacturing of new products.

PhD in Materials Science required.

Must also have ten years of experience:

+ developing functionalized nanoparticles and hardcoats and multifunctional coatings for new product development; and

+ applying new technology in innovative coatings development and demonstrating feasibility through commercialization.

Of experience required, must have three years of experience in:

+ developing high performance alternatives for fluorinated coatings; and

+ interfacing with scientists and product development within a multinational company to leverage and develop new coatings solutions and applications.

Must also have at least five Issued Patents for innovations in new technology.

Experience may be gained concurrently.

Position may be eligible for remote work within commuting distance of St. Paul office up to two days per week.

Domestic and international travel required 10% of the time.

Pay Range: $188,251 - $230,084 per year
