Job Title: Reclaim/Scrap Operator
Job Description
The Reclaim/Scrap Operator plays a vital role in recycling material and scrap aluminum. This position supports machine operators and collaborates with other teams as necessary. It involves peeling protective film from large sheets and processing them through a separator. The role, while not glamorous, offers an excellent starting point for individuals looking to prove themselves and potentially transition into a full-time position.
Responsibilities
+ Maintain a clean work area.
+ Adhere to safety and environmental regulations.
+ Draw ATH for disposal and assist with cleaning machines.
+ Remove and sweep debris from burners and machines.
+ Follow Lockout/Tagout procedures.
+ Support supervisors and team in training and cross-training efforts.
+ Maintain a Forklift license as issued by Mitsubishi.
+ Perform other duties as assigned by the department manager.
+ Wear personal protective equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, and hearing protection.
+ Ensure correctable eyesight for job tasks.
+ Work comfortably around moving equipment.
+ Climb ladders and stairs as required.
+ Engage in frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, forward reaching, and twisting.
+ Occasionally squat, crouch, and reach above shoulder level.
+ Stand for extended periods.
+ Utilize dexterity manipulation for hand tools and light equipment.
+ Push/pull material using a pallet jack.
+ Lift up to 30 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally.
+ Work in a non-climate-controlled environment with moderate temperature changes and proximity to heated processes.
Essential Skills
+ Experience in production and general labor tasks.
+ Packaging and material handling knowledge.
+ Ability to work as a general production worker and helper.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Interest in cross-training and learning new skills.
+ General Production Helper experience.
+ Comfortable working in a climate-controlled production environment.

Work Environment
The role operates in a non-climate-controlled environment with shifts from 6 PM to 6:15 AM; must be able to work any day of the week. Expect moderate exposure to temperature changes and work near heated processes. Proper personal protective equipment is required, including safety shoes, glasses, gloves, and hearing protection.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chesapeake, Virginia.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr.
