ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.

+ Renders simple First Aid assistance in the absence of the Registered Professional Nurse.

+ Maintains various health records.

+ Types notices, records, reports, letters and similar materials.

+ Assists in giving hearing and vision screening tests.

+ Assists Registered Professional Nurse in following up on possible defects found in medical screening.

+ May call parents regarding student absenteeism.

+ Dispenses prescription medicines to self-directed students when necessary in strict accordance with New York State Education Law and regulations.

+ Talks to and attempts to calm students who are distressed.

+ May work one-on-one with handicapped students to assist with daily living needs (feeding and bathroom).

+ Operates copier, calculator, computer, or other office machines.

+ May assist in planning and setting up bulletin boards and other educational programs.

+ Does related work as required.

Job Qualifications

High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) preferred.

NOTE: A performance test in keyboarding will be required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Current First Aid and CPR certification (all age levels). NYS Driver’s License may be required.
