Join Our Team as an Engineering Geologist!
Are you ready to make a significant impact on the design, construction, and maintenance of various infrastructures? We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Engineering Geologist to join our dynamic team in Orange County. As a Project-Level Engineering Geologist, you will lead and manage diverse projects across Southern California, delivering innovative and sustainable solutions to complex geological challenges.
Responsibilities:
+ Lead and Manage: Oversee engineering geological investigations, field explorations, and site assessments for infrastructure, residential, commercial, and industrial projects.
+ Conduct Studies: Perform detailed geotechnical site characterization, including soil and rock mapping, geologic hazard evaluations, and seismic analyses.
+ Field Investigations: Develop and execute comprehensive plans, including drilling programs, geophysical surveys, and soil and rock sampling.
+ Data Analysis: Analyze and interpret geological data to assess soil and rock properties, slope stability, seismic hazards, and groundwater conditions.
+ Reporting: Prepare detailed engineering geology reports with clear and concise recommendations for foundation design, slope stabilization, earthwork planning, and environmental mitigation.
+ Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, hydrogeologists, environmental scientists, and other professionals to integrate geotechnical considerations into project designs and plans.
+ Client Engagement: Understand project objectives, present findings, and offer technical guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
+ Expert Testimony: Provide consultation during regulatory and permitting processes, as well as in legal proceedings, as needed.
+ Mentorship: Guide junior staff members, fostering professional growth and knowledge development within the engineering geology team.
+ Stay Current: Keep up with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to engineering geology and geotechnical engineering.
Essential Skills:
+ Education: Bachelor's degree in Geology.
+ Experience: 7+ years of experience in geology.
+ Project Management: Strong project management skills, including budget, schedule, and resource management.
+ Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of Southern California geology, including seismic hazards, landslides, soil behavior, and rock mechanics.
+ Software Proficiency: Proficiency in geotechnical software and analysis tools, as well as field instrumentation and monitoring devices.
+ Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
+ Regulatory Experience: Demonstrated experience working with regulatory agencies, preparing permit applications, and participating in public hearings.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
+ Advanced Education: Master’s or Ph.D. in Geology or a closely related field.
+ Certifications: Professional Geologist (PG) certification and California Engineering Geologist certification.
+ Experience: Extensive experience in engineering geology, with a proven track record of leading and managing complex geotechnical projects.
+ Mindset: Collaborative and team-oriented mindset, with the ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary environments.
Work Environment:
+ Schedule: 4 days in the office and 1 day remote, with a preference for being in the office every day.
+ Hours: Work weeks range from 40-50 hours depending on workload, with core hours from 9 AM to 5 PM.
+ Location: Most jobs are local to Southern California, and overnight travel is rare.
+ Responsibilities: Site visits, client meetings, and occasional support for other offices.
+ Team: Oversee staff geologists and engineers on a project basis.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $72.00/hr.
