Description
The scientist in this position would be responsible for chemical characterization of medical devices. This would include utilizing GC/MS, LC/MS, ICP-MS and FTIR for analysis. Knowledge of Extractable and Leachable (E&L) analysis is helpful. - Adhering to good documentation practices (GDP) and good laboratory practices (GLP) - sample preparation for liquid/liquid & solid/liquid extractions) - operate pH meters, microscopes, incubator/shakers, and analytical balances Position Responsibilities o Partner with biocompatibility customers to determine testing needs and suggest testing strategies o Perform E&L method development and analysis (LCMS, GC/MS, ICP/MS, FTIR, Raman, SEM) o Perform sample preparation techniques (SPE, liquid extractions, concentration, etc) o Conduct design of experiments o Act as SME for external E&L studies to be a liaison to the CRO’s and biocompatibility team for study design o Experience in statistical data analysis (Excel, Minitab, and JMP) o Experience in protocol and report writing along with scientific data review o SOP, Work Instruction and quality document writing - Method Validation Guidelines SME - LCMS or GC/MS SME o Perform pharmaceutical E&L study design, data collection and analysis (USP 1663 and 1664) o Perform medical device E&L study design, data collection, material assessment and analysis (ISO10993) o Operate and maintain triple quad LCMS and orbitrap LCMS systems o Operate and maintain GC/MS and ICP/MS systems o Analyze data with multiple software platforms o Ability to review, interpret and approve data

Bachelors degree in chemistry or like industry (open to phD or Masters degrees) 2+ years of experience performing extractions for chromotographic analysis 12+ months of experience with GC/MS and LC/MS Nice to Have Extractable and Leachable (E&L experience) Knowledge of ISO 10993 Part 18 Experience with Mass hunter, Empower, Excalibur or Chromeleon Experience with Triple Quad and Orbitrap LC/MS instrumentation Small Molecule LC/MS data analysis experience

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $35.00/hr.
