Job Description
The role provides technical and administrative support to the Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) engineering team. The purpose is to facilitate the processing and delivery of inspection tools, analyze NDE data, and track inspector assignments and progress. The position involves coordinating inspection assignments, tracking inspector results, requesting quotes from vendors, monitoring progress to meet schedule requirements, and verifying requirements upon delivery. This R&D Lab aims to create a universal inspection method for all aerospace parts by performing and perfecting non-destructive evaluations such as Eddy Current, Ultrasonic, and Borescope Techniques.
Responsibilities
+ Provide technical and inventory support to commercial and military engine projects under the direction of NDE Engineers.
+ Prepare parts for Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection (FPI), clean parts post-inspection, package parts, and prepare inspection documentation.
+ Manage shipping for domestic and international orders, including import/export using PW systems.
+ Enter orders using PW systems and track their progress.
+ Communicate status updates both proactively and upon request.
+ Move tooling using equipment such as pallet jacks.
+ Potentially travel for work-related purposes.
+ Document technical procedures and proctor qualification exams.
+ Manage Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) documentation.
Essential Skills
+ Engineering degree with a minimum of 6 months experience in a manufacturing environment.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills.
+ Excellent organizational skills.
+ Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Project management skills at a P1 level.
+ Bachelor's degree preferred.
+ Strong computer skills, including MS Office and the ability to learn additional applications such as FedEx shipping, MIOW, and ZPM within SAP.
+ Experience in mechatronics, ultrasonic, non-destructive evaluation, troubleshooting, eddy current, and NDT inspection.
+ Desire to become an Applications Engineer in NDE.
+ SAP proficiency.
+ Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering is preferred.
+ Experience in measurement/instrumentation, design, and report writing.
Work Environment
This position is based at the East Hartford campus, working full-time onsite in the newest engineering building lab and office. The group is dynamic with constantly changing priorities. The work involves using advanced technologies and equipment. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
