Job Details Surgical Advanced Practice Provider Responsibilities: Performs assessment and evaluation of patient in the Surgical Department Introduces and identifies self to patient and family immediately upon presentation Record admission orders after discussion with attending physician Performance of patient History and Physical with attending physician. A discussion with the attending physician is not required for a PA performing a history and physical in PST. Initiate consultation after discussion with attending consultant physician Evaluate, diagnose and treat adolescent and adult patients for common illnesses and injuries Taking initiative in performing the evaluation and therapeutic procedures in response to life threatening situations Order and interpret all necessary laboratory and diagnostic studies Surgical Advanced Practice Provider Qualifications: Education: Graduate of an accredited & recognized N.Y.S. Physician Assistant Training Program, Licensed, and Registered as a PA in NYS, Board Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants Licensure/Certification: Current valid licensure to practice as Physician Assistant in NYS. Must be registered in NYS. Must be BLS and ACLS certified. Must be certified by the national certifying body as recognized by the NYS Department of Education Skills, Knowledge or Abilities: Able to make sound decisions based on critical analysis of the situation. Ability to prioritize complex situations in a timely manner and educate patients/staff regarding the health care system. Knowledge of all medical equipment available in a Surgical Department Experience: 1-3 years of Surgical First Assistant experience is REQUIRED to include at least three of the various surgical disciplines: General, Vascular, Thoracic, Orthopedics, ENT, Plastics, GYN, Urology, Colon-Rectal as well as experience managing routine surgical patients on the surgical floors, ICU, and ER. Note: Formal documentation of experience in open as well as laparoscopic cases is required. This may be obtained from the OR statistician at previous places of employment. Hand written surgical logs will not be accepted. Salary Range Starting from USD $90.10/Hr. The salary range or rate listed does not include any differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
