    This is an extended duration posting for current and future openings for this position. Applications will be continuously assessed.

     

    The Maryland Transit Administration is excited to welcome friendly, service-oriented individuals to join our team as full-time Bus Operators! If you are at least 21 years old and eager to make a difference in our community, we would love to hear from you. Ideal candidates will have a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger Bus and Air Brakes endorsements. To ensure success, you’ll complete candidate assessments, background checks, and a medical examination, including the DOT physical.     During training and after, CDL license/permit holders with valid Passenger and Air Brake endorsements with no restrictions earn an hourly rate of $26.99

     

    The MTA Bus Operator position is represented by the Amalgamated Transit Union, Local 1300.

    Qualifications

    Must be at least 21 years of age or older and possess a high school diploma or equivalency certificate (GED). Must have two (2) years of continuous employment (with the same employer) or a combined two (2) years of verifiable full or part-time student status and employment history.

     

    A minimum of two (2) years of customer service experience is preferred.

    Licenses & Certifications

     

    A current valid CDL License/Permit with Passenger and Air Brake endorsements with no restrictions is required.

    Note:

    Applicants must submit a current copy of their Complete Driving Record (dated within the last 30 days) from the MVA with their application. The 36-month driving record will not be accepted.

    Qualified applicants will be subject to criminal background and reference checks. Applicants must successfully complete a DOT Physical to determine their ability to perform the essential functions of the position. Applicants are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with the Code of Federal Regulations 49-Federal Department of Transportation Drug and Alcohol Testing Protocols and Federal Transit Administration Alcohol Testing Rules.
