General Summary:

QCT Software Automation and Tools (QSWAT) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Staff Engineer to join our organization. This role is pivotal in designing, developing, testing and maintaining software tools that support various business units across Qualcomm. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development, a deep understanding of engineering tools, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. This position is focused on building enterprise, full stack web applications with front-end, back-end, microservices, and cloud components. Key Responsibilities

+ Leverage advanced software knowledge and experience to design, develop, create, modify, and validate critical web-based solutions, microservices, APIs, applications and tools hosted on-prem or using cloud technologies

+ Design, develop, and maintain high-quality full-stack web-based solutions using cross-platform .NET and/or Python stacks which are secure, performant, reliable and scalable

+ Drive innovation by exploring new technologies and methodologies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our tools

+ Lead design, coding, and testing efforts to ensure that projects are completed to specifications and schedules

+ Lead and manage projects from conception to deployment, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business objectives and our mission

+ Work closely with engineering teams, product managers, and other stakeholders to gather requirements, understand needs, and deliver effective solutions that enhance efficiency and quality

+ Analyze user needs, software requirements, and time and cost constraints to design and customize sophisticated software for optimal operational efficiency

+ Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for software tools, including design specifications and technical user guides

+ Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement

+ Collaborate with individuals outside the software function to increase leverage and design solutions that work for use case needs of different business units across Qualcomm

+ Works independently with minimal supervision.

+ Provides supervision/guidance to other team members.

+ Decision-making is critical in nature and highly impacts program, product, or project success.

+ Requires verbal and written communication skills to convey complex information. May require negotiation, influence, tact, etc.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 6+ years of Software Applications Engineering, Software Development experience, or related work experience.

OR

Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 5+ years of Software Applications Engineering, Software Development experience, or related work experience.

OR

PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Software Applications Engineering, Software Development experience, or related work experience.

• 3+ years of experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.

• 3+ years of experience with debugging techniques.

Preferred Qualifications

+ Master's Degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science or related field

+ 10+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience

+ 10+ years in object-oriented design and programming concepts

+ 10+ years in a technical leadership role with or without direct reports

+ 3+ years of experience with SQL Server or related database

+ 3+ years of experience with MongoDB or related NoSQL databases

+ 3+ year of work experience with Git, Perforce, or Source Code Management System

+ Proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript, with experience in web client-side frameworks such as ReactJS

+ Web development experience with frameworks such as Flask, ASP.NET Core, Django, or Laravel

+ Understanding of containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)

+ Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies

+ Experience with CI/CD applications such as Jenkins

On-Site Requirements

+ On-site presence is required 4 times a week

+ Starting October 2025, on-site presence will be required 5 times a week

Pay range** **and Other Compensation & Benefits** **:

$157,600.00 - $236,400.00

The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm. We also offer a competitive annual discretionary bonus program and opportunity for annual RSU grants (employees on sales-incentive plans are not eligible for our annual bonus).
