Job Description:

We seek a creative visionary who can executive compelling designs to drive philanthropic support for the University of Florida’s largest and most dynamic college. As a Visual Designer in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences’ Office of Advancement, you will craft visually dynamic print and digital materials that are vital to our outreach and engagement efforts. Reporting to the Associate Director of External Engagement, the Visual Designer will lead design projects that align with and enhance UF branding, supporting the team’s larger marketing and communication strategies.
Graphic Design:
+ Prepare, plan, and execute the design and production of high-quality publications, including brochures, flyers, posters, postcards, stationery, invitations, and materials to support fundraising and alumni relations.
+ Develop and deploy seasonal digital campaigns with an integrated omni-channel approach, including web, email, social media, and video.
+ Ensure all content meets the college and university branding standards.
+ In partnership with the Associate Director of External Engagement, coordinate printing and other projects, as necessary, with outside vendors.
+ Graphic design responsibilities include page layout, typography, photo editing and digital image manipulation, basic illustration, and prepress file preparation.
+ Provide creative and artistic direction on graphic design concepts, techniques, and processes that promote the university and college’s desired brand image and achieve project goals.
+ Assist in reviewing graphic materials to assess their validity and appropriateness for our brand, maintaining graphic consistency across all deliverables, and assisting in developing artistic concepts and mockups.
+ Research industry standards, trends, and best practices to maintain competitiveness among peers and to meet objectives as determined by strategic plans and goals.
Marketing and Communications:
+ Work with the external engagement team to create original graphic content and branding concepts for external engagement-related websites, social media pages, and other marketing materials.
+ Digital and multimedia design responsibilities include creating email communications, presentations, web pages, videos, and other electronic communications.
+ Work closely with writers, editors, photographers, videographers, designers, and others to plan and execute communications and marketing materials.
+ Assist in developing an aesthetic to meet the external goals of advancing the organization’s reach and engagement, ensuring compliance with UF and CLAS branding guidelines.
+ In partnership with the Associate Director of External Engagement, work closely with writers, editors, photographers, videographers, and others to plan and execute communications and marketing materials that inspire philanthropic support of the college.
Multimedia:
+ Participate in creative and artistic planning and execution for various multimedia applications, including custom video/audio projects, interviews, news and editorial content, mini-documentaries, websites, and marketing collateral.
+ Generate ideas for productions, develop new formats and shooting styles, and understand each project's story and narrative style to deliver the highest quality product.
+ Identify needs and facilitate planning, determine communications concepts and designs, and support strategic, long-term marketing objectives.
+ Manage a schedule of projects, shoots, and requests for multimedia campaigns. Coordinate location selection and preparation of materials.
+ Maintain and organize photo and video archives, manage filing and sharing system and adhere to media inventory standards. Regularly update an online video library to provide visual resources to campus as appropriate.
+ Advise on resource requirements and equipment needs.
Expected Salary:
The salary is $46,000-$56,000.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and one year of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred:
+ Bachelor’s degree in art, graphic design, or related field.
+ 1-3 years of professional experience in graphic design, preferably in a higher education setting.
+ A strong portfolio showcasing a range of print and digital work.
+ Creative vision, strong written and verbal communication skills, and excellent attention to detail.
+ Proficiency in design software, such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
+ The ability to work strategically, develop and implement constituency programs and activities, along with a talent for motivating volunteers.
+ Accuracy, attention to detail, and a customer service-oriented attitude.
+ Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify challenges, analyze situations, and devise effective solutions.
+ Strong interpersonal abilities, and the capacity to engage effectively and collaboratively with a wide range of individuals are essential.
+ Demonstrated success collaborating with stakeholders; strong project management skills; experience in a data-driven environment; excellent organizational abilities; and the capacity to lead, influence, and inspire others are essential.

+ Proficient in the following areas: Windows operating systems, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access, as well as internet browsers and email platforms. Familiarity with donor databases, contact management systems, and tracking systems is also highly preferred.
