    Job Description:

    * Responsible for network and computer maintenance, troubleshooting and repair, including VOIP communication hardware. Serves as liaison among IRREC and UF/IFAS IT personnel, UF Network Service, and UF Software Services.

    * Identifies needs and provides leadership and oversight for development of IT infrastructure projects. Coordinates and advises on projects related to multimedia technology development, including strategies for their implementation across a range of programs, initiatives and platforms. Ensures compliance with University, college and/or departmental security and configuration policies. Participates in and provides information for the strategic planning process at the department level. Recommend upgrades and or modifications to resolve wired and wireless requirements of the IRREC population. Interface with vendors and contractors.

    * Maintain and update user accounts and file rights management for employee access to the IRREC file server drives, network printers, fax machine and/or scanners; create and/or maintain IRREC e-mail lists; monitor use of graduate student, the visiting scientist, and intern computers.

    * Maintain and set up audio-visual equipment for events, conferences, and meetings; assist faculty with recording and delivering distance-based education modules.

    * Provide and install all necessary software (new or upgrades) so that all faculty and staff computers utilize compatible versions of software and operating systems. Maintain lists of software in use and all licenses renewed or purchased as required.

    * Responsible for all computer and/or mobile device purchases to ensure that these devices are compliant with University rules and regulations related to security. A list of all mobile devices must be maintained and monitored for compliance with the University’s mobile device security policy. Responsibilities require driving between on-center work sites in order to support the Center’s faculty, staff and student needs.

    * Inventory Property Contact. Support fiscal staff in maintaining accuracy of the asset database; Annual inventory of capital and attractive assets, including protection against loss, damage or theft. Destroy data on electronic equipment being disposed of or transferred such as hard drives, tapes and other magnetic media.

    * Web support. Assists IRREC’s Marketing and Communications Team maintaining the Center’s web pages and social media accounts. Responsibilities include maintaining and updating the Center’s communal web pages; providing guidance to assist faculty and staff with individual UF web pages; and ensuring that servers and browsers can handle email, downloads and transmittal of news. The incumbent must be current with changes in technical standards that could impact website functionality and other tasks as assigned.

    Expected Salary:

    $ 53,000 - $ 55,000 commensurate with education and experience

    Required Qualifications:

    Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Preferred:

    Experience with programming and knowledge of at least one programming language.

     

    • Knowledge of University regulations and policies related to computer security.

    • Good verbal and written communication skills.

    • Ability to interact well with faculty and staff and provide timely responses or follow-up to requests.

    • Motivation to assist and provide support as needed and a proactive approach to the job is desirable.
