Job Brief

A. POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Director of Maintenance, a maintenance mechanic is responsible for ensuring that machinery, equipment, and building systems are functioning efficiently and safely. The role involves preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical issues.
B. POSITION DUTIES:
• Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair machinery, equipment and systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance tasks to minimize equipment failures.
• Replace or repair defective parts of equipment
• Conduct routine maintenance on HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical
• Identify mechanical problems using diagnostic tools and techniques.
• Test equipment to ensure proper functionality after repairs when appropriate.
• Analyze system malfunctions and recommend solutions.
• Assemble, install and configure new machinery or mechanical systems.
• Develop and follow maintenance schedules to prevent breakdowns.
• Lubricate parts, clean equipment, and conduct routine checks to ensure optimal performance.
• Follow safety protocols and ensure equipment is maintained according to OSHA standards.
• Perform safety inspections and document findings.
• Identify potential hazards and take corrective actions.
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment performance.
• Manage tools, parts, and maintenance supplies.
• Ensure inventory is stocked to support timely repairs and upkeep.
• Train staff in equipment use and proper maintenance procedures if required.
C. Requirements:
• Strong mechanical experience
• Ability to read technical manuals, blueprints, and diagrams.
• Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations.
• Computer Proficiency, including MS Office, Word and Excel and ability to learn/use basic interior design software for development of evacuation plans and reference layouts
• Knowledge of the practices and techniques of the trades in order to manage plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC and masonry contractors
• Good communication skills
• Familiar with multi-trade tools and equipment
• Experience in the repair, inspection, and/or maintenance of machine shop equipment including inspection and preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, fabricating and diagnosis.
• Experience working and collaborating with sub-contractors when needed
• Able to bend, knee, lift about 50 pounds of weight when needed
• Valid driver’s license
WORKING CONDITIONS:
• A 24/7 facility and one must be able to react to crises where immediate action is required to correct or curtail potentially damaging or hazardous situations
• Work in all temperatures and climatic conditions. Some temperatures can be extreme depending on the situation
• Able to work in confined spaces, some require the use of protective equipment
EDUCATION:
• High School Diploma or GED with a least 3 years of experience
• Associate degree with at least 2 years of experience
• Bachelor’s degree with at least one year of experience
