Job Description
This is a contracted appointment that may last up to two years in duration. Paid internships occur throughout the State of Michigan.
This position serves as a Bridge Services Representative at an international border crossing. This position is responsible for the accurate classification of passenger and commercial vehicles, utilizing a point-of-sale terminal, collection of United States & Canadian currency, making proper change & performing simple math calculations, & balancing of the collected revenue. This position must provide exceptional customer service, perform duties in an efficient & accurate capacity, & requires the ability to problem solve & assist in the resolution of commuter concerns. Additionally, the position performs the review of revenue collected by automated processes, assists with the issuance of toll fare media, & responds to customer service inquiries via in-person, phone, & email communications. Other duties include routine maintenance, technology maintenance. As a 24/7 operation, this position requires working various schedules which can include weekends and holidays as needed.

To be considered for this position you must:
+ Possession of a valid driver's license is required.
+ Possess a Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI) document or obtain one within 90 days from the date of appointment.
+ Be an honorably discharged veteran.
+ Attach a copy of your DD-214 to your application. This document will be required in order to serve in this internship program.
All newly hired state employees are required to submit and pass a pre-employment drug test and physical (if applicable) prior to their actual appointment. Criminal and driving records will also be checked if applicable. Any position offer will be conditional until results of the drug test, physical, criminal background, and driving records indicate eligibility for employment.
