Job Description

As Assistant Unit Manager, responsible for resource protection and cultivation programs in 6 counties found within the Gaylord Management Unit in Northern Lower Michigan. This position has 3 field stations and is also responsible for coordinating fire planning and resource protection activities for the Pigeon River Management Unit. As Fire Supervisor, this position is currently responsible for the direct supervision of 4 Forest Fire Officers and a roster of contract employees. This position coordinates the development and implementation of fire suppression, fire planning, fire detection, fire prevention, fire training, safety, and fire investigation activities for all personnel in the unit. The position provides for the maintenance and oversight of facilities, equipment, and infrastructure within the unit. This position is responsible for writing and overseeing large grants and projects for all programs. The Fire Supervisor is responsible for the coordinating of equipment and monies for the resource damage projects (RDR) identified on the unit.

Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school.

Experience

Four years of experience equivalent to a Forest Fire Officer, including one year equivalent to a Forest Fire Officer E9.

Paid Parental Leave:Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leaveimmediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.
