Position Description
TheSt. David’s School of Nursing (https://www.nursing.txst.edu/) at Texas State University is seeking a clinical nursing faculty at the Clinical Assistant Professor or Clinical Associate Professor level for a nine-month appointment with summer employment. This position will function as the Standardized Patient Coordinator for the Simulation Laboratories in a 50% capacity and as a clinical faculty for the remaining 50% effort.
The Standardized Patient Coordinator at Texas State University St. David’s School of Nursing is responsible for coordinating and implementing the standardized patient program, which includes recruiting, training, scheduling, and evaluating standardized patients. This role supports the education and potential expansion of the simulation lab in the school of nursing, providing support to faculty and staff to enhance clinical learning experiences through simulation and training programs.
Rank and salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Faculty responsibilities will include participation in curriculum development and teaching primarily in undergraduate clinical areas, including simulation lab instruction. This position will be located in the nursing building on the Texas State University Round Rock Campus in Round Rock, Texas.
Responsibilities
+ Coordinates and implements the standardized patient program for the Round Rock campus, including recruiting, training, scheduling, and evaluating standardized patients.
+ Collaborates with nursing course coordinators to implement standardized patient encounters and ensure student debriefings are completed.
+ Participates in on campus and virtual simulation and interprofessional events, as needed, and assists with daily simulation activities on campus.
+ Designs, develops, modifies, and maintains instructor-led and/or Standardized Patient based training classes and workshops.
+ Maintains the assigned standardized patient physical space and supplies, collaborating with faculty and staff for planning standardized patient events.
Required Qualifications
+ Master’s degree in nursing or a related field with 12 hours of graduate nursingeducation courses and five years clinical experience in a registered nurse role.
+ At least five years clinical experience in a registered nurse role.
+ Eligible for Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in Texas.
+ Demonstrated teaching experience in a professional school of nursing, or equivalent teaching experience, appropriate for appointment at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor (minimum of two years) or Clinical Associate Professor (minimum of five years).
+ Commitment to excellence in teaching and learning consistent with the program vision, mission and goals as evidenced by a presentation during the campus visit with faculty.
+ Demonstrated strong collegial relationships.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Current doctorate or enrollment in a doctoral program.
+ Experience in program development, curriculum design, informatics andcommunications systems with simulation experiences, and teaching in undergraduatenursing.
+ Record of accomplishments in scholarly/creative activities, including grantsmanshipand extramural funding, and service.
+ Experience in higher education including accreditation, program review, andassessment.
+ Certification in one or more nursing specialties or nursing education.
+ Experience with formats of distance education, to include on-line instruction.
+ Experience with Standardized Patient programs either as faculty, student orparticipant.
+ Demonstrated strong collegial leadership qualities in diversity and innovation.
+ Experience in building and promoting community relationships.
+ Demonstrated success in staff or faculty cooperative support and team development.
