Seeking a Senior Accounting Manager – Recruiting on Behalf of one of our clients
About the position: The Senior Accounting Manager will oversee accounting activities to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, corporate policies, and external audit requirements. This person will manage and oversee the accounts payable and receivable functions, the payroll function, monthly account closing, and prepare reports in support of the financial statements. This position is also responsible for tracking key company metrics, including costs, cash on hand, and forecasting. This position is part of senior leadership and requires attending meetings, providing guidance, and making recommendations to improve the organization.
The Senior Accounting Manager will report to and work closely with the President and other organization members to analyze and reconcile accounts, develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and controls, and monitor financial performance.
The ideal candidate possesses leadership capabilities, a solid operational and technical accounting background, and works proactively to drive results. This person is a self-starter, flexible, has a high level of integrity, and is action-oriented and goal-driven in a fast-paced, team-oriented, and collaborative environment.
What will you do?
+ Manage the monthly financial close process, including ensuring all costs incurred are properly recorded, reviewing journal entries, account balance reconciliations, and report preparation
+ Participate in the ongoing development and establishment of accounting policies and procedures and operational strategies, including the review and implementation of process and system changes
+ Continued focus on improving system efficiencies and business practices
+ Participate in strategic financial projects, including upgrades and implementation of ERP software
+ Ensure compliance with internal control policies
+ Collaborate with external auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance
+ Interacts at all levels and with budget owners or other stakeholders to produce timely, efficient, and accurate month-end close and all internal management and financial reporting through monthly, quarterly, and annual reports
+ Responsible for accuracy in the general ledger and financial statements, and has ultimate authority over classification and booking of all transactions
+ Analyze the effect of statutory accounting practices and studies regulations and guidance to ensure the correct application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
+ Make recommendations for changes as needed, ensure that company policies and procedures are followed, and establish the proper techniques to discover and prevent fraud
+ Prepare detailed journal entries and account analyses
+ Assist with the compilation of information for the preparation of tax returns
+ Work with the Audit, Tax, and Treasury Consultant to ensure overall coordination of all financial accounting activities through the annual report
+ Prepare a summary of feedback on financial statements' variances to the budget
+ Actively review and advise on financial and accounting processes
+ Develop and communicate cash flow projections
+ Supervise a team of Accountants and Bookkeepers to ensure they're motivated and provided proper support to meet their job duties and responsibilities
+ Assist with other duties as assigned
Education We Are Looking For:
+ A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required
+ Certified Management Accountant (CMA), Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA), or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is highly preferred
+ A master’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is a plus
+ Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
Experience To Be Successful:
+ 8-10 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years of management experience
Specialized Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed For The Role:
+ Strong experience using Sage Intacct Accounting Software and data analytics
+ Highly effective team management
+ Exceptional attention to detail and highly organized
+ Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable experience
+ Enterprise Resource Planning and Solutions
+ Knowledge of GAAP
+ Project-based accounting
+ Proficient knowledge and skills in ADP Workforce Now and Excel
+ Exceptional ability to problem solve, and advanced research and analytical skills
+ Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality, time management skills, strong math knowledge, and 10-key skills
Wage: $80,000 to $98,000 annually
