    Job Summary

    The Office of Equal Opportunity and Access is seeking a Training and Engagement Coordinator. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE ), 12-month, professional faculty position.

     

    The Training and Engagement Coordinator supports the equal opportunity, affirmative action, and civil rights compliance obligations and commitments of the university by enhancing and expanding the presence of the office on campus, online, and in the broader community. Beyond working directly with the office, this position is also responsible for informing and interacting with equity, inclusion, and diversity matters across campus and in the broader community.

    Key Responsibilities

    40% Education and Training Outreach and Coordination

     

    + Manage and plan educational trainings and presentations on behalf of and in collaboration with EOA staff.

    + Assist with the development and delivery of training materials as needed.

    + Coordinate office outreach and engagement efforts proactively and represent EOA at university/community engagement opportunities and at special events.

    + Develop an outreach plan that prioritizes proactive opportunities to advance the office mission.

    + Identify training programs, platforms, and tools necessary to meet training requirements.

    + Effectively support office-wide efforts to build broad campus understanding and awareness of identity, bias, discrimination, power, and privilege.

    + Coordinate, develop, and deliver curriculum and training sessions on topics related to equal opportunity.

    + Collaborate, with partners both within and outside of EOA , to ensure that training materials are current, effective, and consistent. Work with partner offices to design and conduct educational training sessions on broader topics of equity, inclusion, and diversity, and how they relate to equal opportunity obligations.

    + Serve as point person for EOA in collaborating with campus clients and campus partners (Human Resources, Office of Institutional Diversity, Ombuds, Center for Advocacy Prevention & Education, and others) to determine what office(s) is (are) most appropriate to provide the necessary and requested training.

    + Assist EOA leadership in preparing compliance-related presentations or reports to the Board, President, Cabinet, and other senior leaders.

     

    30% Communication and Engagement Oversight and Coordination

     

    + Create strategies for engaging the university community.

    + Update, maintain, and develop content on EOA websites.

    + Stay informed of strategies and trends in communications and social media.

    + Adapt outreach efforts to engage with and meet the needs of many different communities.

    + Assist with creating and implementing strategies for using publicity to enhance the communication efforts of and about EOA and raising awareness about civil rights compliance efforts.

    + Produce and coordinate distribution of materials such as news releases, posters and promotional items, brochures, and other pertinent media materials as appropriate.

    + Coordinate office-wide communications, brochures, pamphlets, and tabling efforts.

    + Provide oversight of EOA social media, as applicable.

    + Highlight institution-wide prevention and compliance efforts by attending events to gather and share information, write articles, draft announcements, and issue messages via web and print materials.

    + Create communications utilizing AP style writing

     

    20% Assessment and Continuous Improvement

     

    + On an ongoing basis and in consultation with EOA leadership, assess OSU employee training needs, both recurring and on-demand, and across a range of training platforms (in-person, video/webinar, other).

    + Periodically review and, in coordination with EOA leadership, update EOA policy, process, and practice documents; Update associated materials/resource documents and website language.

    + Develop, update, maintain, and monitor EOA processes for feedback and assessment (e.g. case closure surveys, training feedback forms, and other office feedback mechanisms).

    + Identify gaps in EOA’s outreach, engagement, training, and education efforts and proactively work with EOA team members and appropriate campus partners to address these gaps.

     

    10% Service and other activities

     

    + Provide backup to the EOA Executive Assistant in responding to main office emails, calls, walk-ins, and other communications.

    + Provide service to the university and surrounding community, including participation on university committees and in campus/community activities related to diversity, equity, equal opportunity, and affirmative action.

    + Additional responsibilities as assigned, including opportunities for growth and professional development in other areas of interest related to equity, inclusion, diversity, and adult learning.

    What You Will Need

    + Bachelor’s degree in a field related to the duties of this position AND 1 year of professional experience coordinating, designing, and/or delivering trainings and presentations OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and professional training & organizational development experience.

    + Familiarity with and understanding of the principles and regulatory requirements related to civil rights laws, equal opportunity, and affirmative action.

    + Experience coordinating, designing, and/or delivering trainings and presentations.

    + Demonstrated commitment to equity and diversity and creating inclusive environments.

    + Demonstrated effectiveness in oral, written, and email communications.

    + Experience in the development of content in a variety of formats (e.g. websites, memos, newsletters, brochures, social media, articles, digital and print materials, etc.).

    + Understanding of design principles as related to the development of communication and educational materials.

    + Proficient with software and tools used for creating print and digital communication and educational materials.

    + Demonstrated ability to understand and support the strategic goals of the university articulated in the strategic plan titled Prosperity Widely Shared.

     

    This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.

    What We Would Like You to Have

    + Experience coordinating, designing, and/or delivering training and presentations on relevant topics such as oppression, privilege, equal opportunity, affirmative action, or diversity.

    + Strong foundation for equal opportunity, equity, and diversity work.

    + Professional experience navigating complex hierarchical systems.

    + Multilingual and/or multicultural with a preference for languages/cultures that are increasingly represented at OSU , such as Spanish/Latin-American, Mandarin Chinese, Vietnamese, Arabic, and Deaf Culture/American Sign Language.

    Working Conditions / Work Schedule

    The individual in this role will need to attend events occasionally outside of typical work hours, which may include evenings and weekends. Travel to Oregon State University sites beyond Corvallis may occasionally be required, with occasional overnight travel. Flex hours to accommodate identified and approved events will be provided. This position is intended to be a primarily in-person role, with possibility for some hybrid remote work, based on the needs of the office.
