Job Summary
The Senior Director of Pharmacy Informatics will leverage their expertise in pharmacy practice and health information technology to enhance medication management, optimize electronic health record (EHR) systems, and ensure safe and effective use of medications across the organization. This role will involve collaboration with various stakeholders, including clinical pharmacists, IT professionals, and healthcare providers, to support the integration of informatics into pharmacy services. The ideal candidate will possess a strong blend of clinical pharmacy expertise, informatics knowledge, and leadership skills.
Essential Functions
+ Strategic Leadership: Develops and executes a comprehensive pharmacy informatics strategy that aligns with the organization's overall goals and enhances medication safety, efficiency, and patient outcomes.
+ System Integration: Oversees the design, implementation, and optimization of pharmacy informatics systems, including electronic health records (EHR), clinical decision support tools, and medication management platforms.
+ Collaboration: Fosters collaboration with key stakeholders, including IT, clinical leadership, and pharmacy staff, to ensure effective integration of pharmacy informatics within the broader healthcare system.
+ Data Analytics: Leverages data analytics to monitor medication use, identify opportunities for improvement, and inform clinical decision-making. Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the impact of pharmacy informatics initiatives.
+ Regulatory Compliance: Ensures compliance with regulatory standards and guidelines related to pharmacy informatics, medication safety, and quality assurance.
+ Innovation & Research: Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in pharmacy informatics. Lead research initiatives aimed at improving clinical practices and advancing the field.
+ Staff Development: Mentors and develops pharmacy informatics staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and professional growth.
+ Budget Management: Oversees the pharmacy informatics budget, ensuring the effective allocation of resources and monitoring of expenditures.
Qualifications
+ Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree
+ Master's Degree in Health Informatics, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred
+ 5-7 years In clinical pharmacy practice and informatics required
+ 3-6 years In a senior leadership role within a healthcare system
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
+ Strong knowledge of pharmacy informatics, pharmacy regulations, clinical pharmacy practices, and medication management strategies.
+ Self-driven, results-oriented with a positive outlook, and a clear focus on high clinical quality and business appropriateness.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
+ A natural forward planner who critically assesses own performance and is able to manage multiple projects.
+ Mature, credible, reliable, tolerant, and determined.
+ Empathic communicator, able to see things from the other person's point of view.
+ Well-presented and businesslike. Sufficiently mobile and flexible to travel up to a few days a month if called upon.
+ Keen for new experience, responsibility and accountability.
+ Ability to manage complex projects, problem solve, and lead others.
Licenses and Certifications
+ RPH - Registered Pharmacist State Pharmacist Licensure Required
