    Job Summary

    The MRI Technologist II performs advanced MRI imaging procedures while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and the production of high-quality diagnostic images. This role collaborates with radiologists and departmental leadership to optimize imaging protocols and standards. The MRI Technologist II serves as a key resource for MRI safety, quality assurance, and educational efforts within the department.

    Essential Functions

    + Coordinates MRI schedules, prioritizing patient needs and department workflow for optimal efficiency.

    + Reviews patient history, including prior surgeries, implants, or foreign bodies, to assess MRI safety and ensure proper pre-scan evaluation.

    + Researches implant materials and consults with the MRSO (Magnetic Resonance Safety Officer) or radiologist to determine safety for MRI procedures.

    + Operates MRI and image processing equipment proficiently, ensuring accurate, high-quality images in compliance with established protocols.

    + Develops, maintains, and updates MRI scan protocols in collaboration with radiologists, the MRSO, and department leadership.

    + Prepares and positions patients for MRI exams, providing clear explanations and instructions to alleviate anxiety and ensure cooperation.

    + Maintains MRI safety zones, ensuring compliance with safety protocols for patients, staff, and visitors.

    + Monitors and maintains an adequate inventory of MRI supplies and equipment, ensuring functionality and readiness for procedures.

    + Conducts quality checks on images, ensuring they meet diagnostic and organizational standards.

    + Provides guidance and evaluation for students and new technologists, fostering professional development and skill enhancement.

    + Documents patient clinical history accurately and ensures relevant documentation is sent to the radiologist in PACS.

    + Performs other duties as assigned.

    + Complies with all policies and standards.

    Qualifications

    + Associate Degree in Radiologic Technology or related field preferred

    + 2-4 years of clinical experience as a registered MRI Technologist required

    + 1-2 years of clinical experience as a Radiologic Technologist required

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    + Expertise in MRI operations, safety protocols, and diagnostic imaging techniques.

    + Strong interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with patients and healthcare team members.

    + Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with MRI equipment and imaging processes.

    + Commitment to maintaining a safe and organized clinical environment.

    + Proficient in electronic medical records (EMR) and imaging software systems.

    Licenses and Certifications

    + ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists required

    + ARMRIT - Registered Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist required

    + BCLS - Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire required

    + Advanced MRI safety certification (e.g., MRSO) preferred
