    The Creative Audio Organization is a centralized team that touches nearly every product Meta produces, making our team integral to the company. We collaborate with product and design teams across Meta to drive sonic innovation and our mission is to create meaningful experiences that strengthen human connections through the transformative power of audio.Creative Audio is looking for an experienced Sound Designer to join our Horizon OS department to help us bring this vision to life with demonstrated experience in both the technical and creative aspects of crafting immersive and engaging audio experiences, as well as interaction sound design and its impact on people and their experiences.As a Sound Designer, your responsibilities will include shaping, developing, and integrating clear, delightful, communicative and accessible audio experiences that not only drive user adoption but also push the boundaries of what is possible in the immersive space. You will work closely with cross-functional teams and partners to ensure that your audio designs are integrated seamlessly with the overall immersive experience and meet the needs of our users and stakeholders, ultimately elevating the way users engage with Horizon OS and first-party apps.Your in-depth understanding of sound design, user experience design and creative storytelling will be essential in crafting soundscapes that elevate and enhance experiences. You will be an instrumental part of the sound design process, from concept to iteration and refinement, to preparing and integrating assets, to testing performance and approving designs for public release. You will be leading complex projects across multiple platforms and mediums to completion, as well as providing creative feedback and engaging actively with cross-functional teams. You will join a skilled and broad group of designers, engineers, and researchers who share a passion for creating memorable audio experiences that leave a lasting impact on our users worldwide.

    Required Skills:

    Sound Designer Responsibilities:

    1. Craft unique, memorable, and iconic sonic experiences for the millions of people who use HorizonOS.

    2. Drive complex interaction sound design + haptics projects through completion.

    3. Use your proven understanding of interaction sound design to define and distill broad concepts into actionable deliverables.

    4. Contribute to the development of sound design systems by establishing audio design standards, guidelines, and best practices, while being the go-to expert for all things sound, including design standards, best practices, and implementation guidelines.

    5. Execute in a time-sensitive and highly fluid environment.

    6. Collaborate closely with other sound designers to ensure systems alignment across products.

    7. Collaborate closely with all partners to determine scope of work, planning and execution of sound design and implementation.

    8. Influence key business decisions within the organization and product/business area, leveraging clear data-driven decision making.

    9. Influence and drive sonic standards in order to maintain quality and leverage existing resources for product consistency and efficiency.

    10. Develop and maintain a consistent sonic brand identity across key Meta touchpoint.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    11. Hands-on experience with sound design and interaction sound design in particular

    12. 5+ years creating UX sonic experiences for products in mobile, hardware, and non-traditional or immersive environments

    13. Experience with audio middleware (Wwise, FMOD)

    14. Experience creating original sound design for high-profile products or experiences

    15. Experience with sound design synthesis and latest plugins

    16. Demonstrated skills in Pro Tools and/or other professional DAW’s

    17. Understanding of human-centered design

    18. Experience managing, scoping and communicating project milestones and deliverables

    19. Experience testing implementation of sounds

    20. Troubleshooting and problem solving skills

    21. Time-management and organizational skills to meet delivery specifications and deadlines

    22. Understanding of Design Systems and systems thinking

    23. Understand accessibility requirements

    24. Demonstrated experience communicating effectively with technical teams and software developers to ensure seamless and efficient sound implementation

    25. Mobile audio experience

    26. Experience in designing audio for AR and VR experiences

    27. Experience with game engines (Unity, Unreal)

    28. AR audio experience with AR design tools (Spark, Snap Studio)

    29. Knowledge of acoustics, equipment set ups and calibration

    30. Experience mixing in a variety of mediums, such as mobile and spatial audio

    31. Understanding of programming and technical sound paradigms in VR, AR, or other immersive mediums

    32. Experience working autonomously and effectively collaborating with team members and product groups

    Public Compensation:

    $137,000/year to $191,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
