Summary of Position: This is a full-time position. The Manager of Institutional Giving supports the overall fundraising strategy for After School Matters by planning, overseeing, and executing a strategy to obtain funding from private and public grants. Reporting to the Director of Institutional Giving, this position is responsible for the coordination, solicitation, and stewardship of a portfolio of current and prospective foundation donors. The position will also manage and oversee the administrative aspects of securing support within this portfolio, to ensure the organization’s financial and programmatic obligations are met. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to proposal writing, mid-term and final reporting, deliverables management, as well as high-profile solicitation and acknowledgement.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
+ In collaboration with the Director of Institutional Giving and the Grant Writer, manage, implement, and steward all grants (public and private) that align and support the After School Matters operational budget and future growth strategies. Maintain regular contact with existing and prospective donors for cultivation and stewardship purposes. Plan, organize, and steward site visits.
+ Oversee internal systems related to grants including maintaining a calendar of deadlines, supervising proposal development timelines, and managing funder deliverables and the expenditure tracking process. Provide guidance for colleagues to implement and maintain these systems.
+ Maintain regular contact with internal teams (Development, Programs, Finance, Research and Evaluation, and Executive) to ensure high quality project deliverables.
+ Coordinate with the database administrator to ensure accurate reporting and funder deliverables are met.
+ Assist with the collection, input, and maintenance of donor information into Raiser’s Edge database, including working with the database administrator to ensure records are current and accurate.
+ Design and maintain internal team processes for systems management including Raiser’s Edge, Box, and Asana. Provide continual support to team members as needed.
+ Advise the Director of Institutional Giving on revenue projections based on known and potential opportunities. Work closely with the Finance Department to prepare and edit budgets for submissions and reports.
+ Supervise the Grant Writer.
+ Assist with other projects as necessary.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
+ Experience in successfully cultivating and closing major gifts, developing donor strategies and stewarding institutional support, particularly from foundations.
+ Considerable experience grant writing, crafting clear narrative, and creating donor acknowledgement communications.
+ Ability to work and communicate with a wide range of internal constituents including development staff, program staff, finance staff, and executive leadership.
+ Outstanding written and presentation skills to persuasively convey the mission of After School Matters to diverse external constituencies.
+ Ability to function independently in a fast-paced, high volume, multi-faceted, results-oriented work environment.
+ Ability to analyze issues, identify priorities, manage projects, and make decisions expeditiously while maintaining close attention to detail, especially foundation specifications, expectations, and deadlines.
Required Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s or equivalent degree required.
+ Minimum of 2-4 years of experience working with local, regional, and national foundations and shepherding proposals through to completion required.
+ Experience preparing and securing government grant funding from local, state, and national sources preferred.
+ Two years of supervisory experience preferred.
+ Excellent Microsoft Office skills required. Raiser’s Edge experience preferred.
Schedule:
+ Hybrid work environment, 9am - 5pm
+ Minimum two days in person, with three days during our Summer Session
+ Occasional nights and weekends, depending on Development team events
+ Ability to travel to ASM sites as needed

Compensation: $72,000 - $75,000 salary, depending on applicable experience and education

Programs take place at community locations throughout the city, including three ASM buildings: downtown at Gallery 37 Center for the Arts, the Michael and Karyn Lutz Center in Belmont Cragin, and the Pullman community at Gately Park. Currently, After School Matters’ annual operating budget is approximately $35M and employs approximately 500 staff across the organization.
