Position Summary
The Director - Health Economics Market Access is responsible for the development of Health Economic and Outcomes Research (HEOR) strategies and execution for Caris Life Sciences current and future products. The Director will collaborate on the development of the payer and reimbursement HEOR strategy and will lead research, resource development, and tactical execution, while working cross-functionally with different departments to develop the health economic value propositions. Primarily, this position will be responsible for the development of Health Economic and Outcomes Research (HEOR) strategies and their tactical execution, collaborating closely with Market Access to ensure efficient execution and alignment. This individual will regularly align with key stakeholders on the Market Access, Health Systems, Commercial, and Medical teams for understanding of data needs, develop HEOR evidence strategies and evidence generation and publication plans to meet those data needs, execute studies with the support of the cross-functional teams and external vendors, and communicate study findings to ensure clear, accurate messaging and pull-through.
The role entails leading HEOR projects from inception to completion across all phases of research. It will encompass research design, project management, analysis, interpretation and dissemination of HEOR evidence, and the communication of appropriate HEOR key value messages. The role involves proactive cross-functional collaboration with Clinical Development, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Health Systems, Marketing, etc., as well as external decision-makers, and will manage external HEOR consulting companies.
Job Responsibilities
+ Align with the Market Access and Clinical teams to understand current evidence package and future needs.
+ Develop and execute comprehensive HEOR evidence strategies and evidence generation and publication plans focused on data to establish the clinical, economic, and patient-centered value propositions related to Caris’ testing services.
+ Lead the development of HEOR studies such as systematic literature reviews, meta-analysis, indirect treatment comparisons; observational research studies using real world data such as claims and EMRs; patient reported outcome (PRO), qualitative, and physician preference studies; cost-effectiveness and budget impact models; and other studies to support evidence generation for value propositions, value dossiers, and health care economic information materials in collaboration with the cross-functional team, external vendors and experts.
+ Lead and manage development of HEOR study documentation including study concept documents, protocols, analysis plans, and final study reports, as well as manuscripts, in collaboration with the cross-functional team, external vendors and experts.
+ Communicate HEOR study findings to stakeholders on the Market Access teams to ensure clear, accurate messaging and pull-through into activities to support patient access.
+ Manage budgets and timelines for vendor activities in support of HEOR evidence generation and publication activities.
+ Interface with cross-functional partners in Medical Affairs, Market Access, Clinical Development, Regulatory, Legal/Compliance, and Commercial in the development and execution of HEOR evidence strategies and evidence generation and publication plans.
+ Collaborate with internal and external experts in the execution and dissemination of studies, and implementation of field-based, customer-focused initiatives (e.g., models, scientific communications, slide kits, dossiers).
+ Provide internal trainings on HEOR findings and methodologies.
+ Work closely with scientific communications, publications and other home office and field colleagues to ensure scientific conference material is appropriate, relevant and accurate.
Required Qualifications
+ Master’s Degree in Public Health, MBA or related field and 5-10+ years of biotech/laboratory/pharma industry experience or Bachelor’s Degree and 15+ years of biotech/laboratory/pharma industry experience.
+ Excellent technical reading, writing and communication skills with proficiency in communicating clinical technical information to varied internal and customer audiences.
+ Excellent collaboration, planning, and execution skills; strong project and process management skills including the ability to manage multiple projects, set priorities and meet deadlines.
+ Strong HEOR study research design, methods, modeling, and analytic skills and resource development for product value assessment.
+ High level strategic thinking, critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills.
+ Experienced in influencing strategy with internal and external customer audiences.
+ Strong presentation and leadership skills.
+ Highly motivated to function proactively, operate with a sense of urgency, bring tasks to completion.
+ Proven ability to lead and partner with cross functional teams, drive execution, and build alignment.
+ Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as a key contributor to multi-departmental teams simultaneously.
+ Demonstrate ability to work effectively in a complex, rapidly changing environment.
+ Ability to travel approximately 25%.
Preferred Qualifications
+ MS in an outcomes-related field (e.g., Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Economics, and Pharmacy Administration), a PharmD with HEOR-related education and/or Fellowship experience, or an MPH/MS who has strong relevant experience.
+ A minimum of 8+ years’ experience in the industry, specifically in health economics and outcomes research, with clinical background/research experience necessary to support US Market Access.
+ Presentation and thorough research experience with market access customers.
+ Prior corporate experience in hematology/oncology therapeutic area is highly preferred.
+ Significant experience in analyzing retrospective claim databases and EMRs to assess the burden of disease.
+ Experience with clinical/outcomes research applied to retrospective and prospective HEOR research.
+ Significant knowledge of US market access environment.
+ Proven track record of identifying product advantages and market requirements turning them into impactful value propositions and value stories to payers and health systems.
Annual Hiring Range
$180,000 - $220,000
Actual compensation offer to candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level. The pay ratio between base pay and target incentive (if applicable) will be finalized at offer.
