As part of Controllership organization, the U.S. Regulatory Reporting team delivers Bank Holding Company regulatory reports in accordance with both U.S. Federal and State regulators for American Express Company and its underlying subsidiaries.
As American Express transitions to a higher bank category (Cat 3/2), it leads to an uptick in regulatory scrutiny and increased regulatory expectations. As a result, we are forming a centralized Exam and Review Preparedness team to meet those heightened standards. The scope will include both external exams (i.e. FRB, OCC) as well as internal reviews (i.e. Quality Assurance, 2LOD, Internal Audits). This role will be part of the new team.
How will you make an impact in this role?
Finance Technology Data & Transformation (FTD&T) is an integral part of the Finance organization with a mission to solve Finance's existing and evolving data needs by using Technology approved tools to build scalable, reliable, and flexible data structures. This position will have the primary responsibility to lead the end-to-end data analysis and documentation of process architecture to deliver value-added solutions for key stakeholders within the Finance organization at American Express. This role will assist FTD&T product owners in determining the proper sources and processes for acquiring, enriching, and provisioning data required by Finance in the following major areas: Financial Reporting, Operational Reporting, Regulatory Reporting, Management Reporting and Advanced Analytics processes.
The job’s focus will include the following activities:
+ Analyze and document Finance process and system requirements
+ Define the functional design for data acquisition, enrichment, and provisioning
+ Partner with Finance stakeholders and Technology partners to design, build, test and deploy solutions to fulfill Finance process requirements
+ Test case and plan creation, execution, and coordination
+ Collaborate with product owners to implement data process controls and support ongoing process maintenance efforts
Responsibilities
+ Finance process analysis
+ Work with the Finance process owners and other teams to analyze and document their process requirements in terms of data, required transformations, and reporting/analytical output
+ Work with product owners to prioritize features and user stories for ongoing sprints and to manage a prioritized list of data requirements
+ Document processing requirements, including data and transaction volumes, scalability, security and performance requirements
+ Solution Design
+ Work with Technology, Finance partners, source system owners, and other stakeholders to locate the data required by Finance and ensure the data architecture design supports Finance’s reporting and analytics requirements
+ Identify required reference data needs and design the processes for collecting and maintaining reference data
+ Document future state Finance processes for data acquisition, enrichment, provisioning, and reporting
+ Build/Deployment
+ Work with Technology, Finance partners, source system owners, and other stakeholders to deploy solutions across the appropriate Finance user base
+ Build, test and deploy solutions to acquire, enrich and provision the required data and ensure data integrity, accuracy and completeness
+ Perform data validation as part of Finance user testing as needed
+ Perform systems integration and pre-user acceptance testing
+ Data Controls and Ongoing Production Support
+ Work with product owners to design and build ongoing data process controls by collaborating with Technology and Data Governance as needed
+ Investigate data anomalies and research ad-hoc data inquiries as part of ongoing production support
Mínimum Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in Finance Technology, Information Management, Data Management, Engineering or similar field
+ Knowledge of SQL and familiarity with query tools (Hive / Lumi)
+ Basic understanding of Agile methodology and delivery concepts
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills as well as the ability to create impactful relationships with key stakeholders
+ Previous experience working closely with Technology teams to deploy systems to re-engineer processes and solve complex business problems
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills
+ Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to meet critical deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously
+ Self-motivated, proactive, and dedicated to the delivery of high-quality service to consistently exceeds customers’ expectations
+ Positive attitude and demonstrated strength as a quick learner
Preferred Qualifications
+ 2 years of experience in similar positions.
+ Strong understanding of relational database concepts and experience working in a big data (Hadoop / Cornerstone) or Cloud (Lumi) environment.
+ Previous work experience in various Finance disciplines such as Accounting, Financial Reporting, Regulatory Reporting, Management Reporting, Treasury, Tax or Banking.
Qualifications
Salary Range: $55,000.00 to $105,000.00 annually bonus benefits
