ABOUT THE ROLE
Holcim US, a leading supplier of quality, construction building materials in the United States, has immediate openings for a 2nd shift Plant Mechanic to support operations at Rockville Crushed Stone in Rockville, Maryland. This position will be responsible for the diagnosis, repair and maintenance of a wide variety of fixed electrical equipment, mechanical equipment, systems and machinery. Also maintain, install and repairs mechanical equipment and machinery. Overtime will be required and shift may be adjusted for business needs.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
+ Perform routine preventive maintenance on crushers, conveyors, screens, and other aggregate production equipment.
+ Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues with plant machinery.
+ Repair and replace damaged or worn components such as belts, bearings, pulleys, and motors.
+ Conduct welding and fabrication for structural repairs and modifications to plant equipment.
+ Inspect plant equipment regularly to identify potential issues and ensure efficient operation.
+ Respond quickly to breakdowns and malfunctions to minimize production downtime.
+ Keep detailed records of maintenance activities, including repairs, parts used, and inspections completed.
+ Follow MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) safety regulations and ensure a safe working environment.
+ Assist with the installation and setup of new equipment or machinery as needed.
+ Collaborate with other maintenance personnel and supervisors to prioritize urgent repairs and improve overall plant efficiency.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
+ **Education: High school diploma or equivalent**
+ **Field of Study Preffered: Industrial Maintenance Technology or Millwright or Industrial Mechanics**
+ **Required Work Experience: Minimum of 3 years' experience working in plant or industrial environment.**
+ **Travel Requirements: N/A**
+ Mechanical proficiency: Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including conveyors, crushers, screens, and other heavy machinery.
+ Troubleshooting abilities: Expertise in diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues to identify root causes and resolve problems efficiently.
+ Welding and fabrication: Ability to weld, fabricate, and repair plant equipment, including structural and equipment-related tasks.
+ Knowledge of preventive maintenance: Familiarity with performing scheduled inspections, lubricating equipment, replacing worn parts, and ensuring the ongoing reliability of machinery.
+ Hydraulic systems expertise: Understanding of hydraulic systems and ability to maintain and repair hydraulic pumps, valves, cylinders, and hoses.
+ Electrical knowledge: Ability to troubleshoot and repair basic electrical systems, including motors, wiring, and control panels.
+ Safety compliance: Knowledge of MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) safety standards and commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
+ Ability to operate heavy equipment: Comfortable operating forklifts, cranes, and other machinery to transport parts or assist with repairs.
+ Physical stamina: Ability to work in physically demanding conditions, including lifting heavy objects, working in confined spaces, and enduring outdoor conditions.
+ Record-keeping and documentation: Strong organizational skills to maintain accurate maintenance logs, track parts inventory, and report maintenance activities.
+ Pass a 7-year criminal background check, including both felonies and misdemeanors, as required for employment
+ Ability to work in all weather conditions without limitations.
+ Ability to lift 50lbs
Additional Requirements:
+ Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
