The Opportunity
Communicate with the Traffic Coordinator regarding the daily activities of the Traffic Department. Duties include loading and unloading trucks, maintaining inventory in the tool crib, routing materials to departments, and preparing product for shipment.
Responsibilities:
+ Issue materials, products, parts, and supplies to coworkers, based on information from incoming pick list and bill of materials.
+ Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas in order to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
+ Determine proper storage methods, identification, and stock location based on direction from management. Mark or tag identification on parts as directed.
+ Examine contents and compare with records, such as manifests, packing lists or slips, or orders, to verify accuracy of incoming shipment.
+ Communicate with Traffic Coordinator and about incoming freight to verify receipt of products and facilitate workflow. Deliver or route materials to departments, using fork trucks, bins, or any other conveyance options.
+ Submit requisitions to the Purchasing Manager to replenish shop supplies.
+ Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments and material and equipment needs.
+ Record numbers of units handled and moved, using daily production sheets or work tickets.
+ Record receiving data, such as quantities, quality, damages, and discrepancies, for reporting, accounting and record-keeping purposes.
+ Move freight, stock, and other materials to and from storage and production areas, loading docks, delivery vehicles, ships, and containers, by hand or using trucks, tractors, and other equipment.
+ Sort cargo before loading and unloading.
+ Assemble product containers and crates, using hand tools and precut lumber.
+ Load and unload cargo, using fork trucks and other hoisting devices.
+ Pack containers and re-pack damaged containers.
+ Carry needed tools and supplies from storage or trucks, and return them after use.
+ Install protective devices, such as bracing, padding, or strapping, to prevent shifting or damage to items being transported.
+ Maintain equipment storage areas to ensure that inventory is protected.
+ Attach slings, hooks, and other devices to lift cargo and guide loads.
+ Carry out general yard duties to keep areas organized and clean.
+ Adjust controls to guide, position and move equipment such as cranes and booms. Guide loads being lifted in order to prevent swinging.
Qualifications:
+ High School Graduate.
+ One to two years related experience
+ Some Computer skills.
