Overview

Colliers Engineering & Design is actively looking for a Party Chief to work out of our Rochester, NY office! This candidate will conduct field surveys independently or with the assistance of other field crew staff. Responsible for performing and/or overseeing all field survey activities on assigned projects of advanced complexity, using standard equipment, work, and safety methods. Perform site safety leader functions on site.

Our services include 3D hi-definition laser and terrestrial scanning, mobile LiDAR, UAS Aerial mapping, Amberg trolley rail and tunnel measurement, Building Information Modeling (BIM), GPS/GIS and topographic mapping, subsurface utility engineering and non-destructive testing, hydrographic, wetlands and forensic surveying.

Responsibilities

+ Plan and perform advanced field surveys within the defined project scope and budget, using the most efficient methods, and in accordance with applicable standards of practice.

+ Supervise and direct other survey crew members.

+ Interact with project site supervisors and client field representatives.

+ Prepare accurate, detailed field notes and reports of daily activity in a timely manner.

+ Perform in-field calculations for construction stakeout and various land surveys with minimal assistance from office support team.

+ Prepare cut sheets for construction assignments as needed.

+ Review and determine the validity of data collection.

+ Demonstrate initiative in analyzing and developing solutions to issues encountered on projects.

+ Maintain, transport, and operate the instruments and equipment associated with surveying land and preparing the job site for a survey.

+ Adhere to corporate and client Health and Safety program(s) and all applicable SOPs.

+ Prepare or receive from the PM, the Health, and Safety Checklists.

+ Review and instruct other crew personnel on all safety hazards, PPE, etc. associated with the work being performed.

+ Use and instruct others to properly use Total Stations, Data Collector, GNSS, and other specialized survey equipment to collect data.

+ Electronically transfer field data files, photos and associated forms to office team daily.

+ Mentor field survey staff to facilitate advancement.

Qualifications

+ High School Diploma or GED required.

+ Associates of Applied Sciences Degree in a related field preferred.

+ 3+ years of related experience.

+ 2+ years as Survey Technician or Instrument Operator.

+ Valid driver’s license required.

+ CST level II preferred.

+ Ability to obtain Drone License 107.

+ Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.

Compensation: $27.00 to $33.00 per hour (depending on qualifications)

Requires a pre-employment drug screen and will require ongoing participation in the employer's random drug and alcohol testing program.
