Job Description
The Department of Theatre and Dance in the School of Arts, Media, and Communication at Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi (TAMU-CC) is inviting applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor of Theatre. The Department is seeking an accomplished instructor of Lighting Design & Technical Theatre to join the faculty beginning fall 2025. Primary responsibilities include teaching Lighting Design, Stagecraft, and other courses based on candidate expertise. The ideal candidate will also serve as a mentor to BA Theatre majors/minors, complete design work/creative activity for university productions, and participate in departmental/campus service activities.
It's the department's intent that there will be an opportunity to apply for a full-time, tenure track position in this area during the academic year.
The successful candidate is expected to have prior success teaching students of varying skills, ability levels, and academic backgrounds. The department is especially interested in candidates who will actively contribute to, and have a demonstrable commitment to, fulfilling the University’s mission of educating our students to become engaged global citizens.
The Department of Theatre & Dance at TAMU-CC is a 10-member faculty, 120+ major program offering a Bachelor of Arts degree with concentrations in Acting/Directing, Design/Tech, Teacher Certification, as well as a Minor in Theatre and a Minor in Dance. The department season includes 5 main stage theatre productions, 3 dance productions, and various student-led productions each year which are supported with full-time technical staff and work study appointments, in addition to the faculty.
Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Theatre. The Department of Theatre & Dance is a highly active unit in the School of the Arts, Media & Communication. Construction of a new music/theatre/dance/arts building began in May of 2024 and completion is expected in Fall of 2026.

Required Qualifications:
+ A terminal degree in Theatre
+ Evidence of excellence in professional lighting design, practices & communication, or equivalent skills
+ Demonstrated commitment to supporting students/collaborators from varied backgrounds
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Experience teaching lighting and/or foundational technical courses at the collegiate level
+ Experience with sound design and audio systems/software
+ Experience with theatrical projections/digital media/entertainment production
