Responsibilities

The Vice President of the Oncology Service Line at Ascension Saint Thomas is responsible for strategic leadership, clinical program development, and growth of oncology services across the organization. This leader ensures the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered cancer care while advancing clinical excellence, financial sustainability, and market growth. The VP collaborates closely with physicians, administrators, and community partners to develop innovative oncology programs and expand service line capabilities, ensuring alignment with the organization's mission and strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Vision

+ Develop and implement a comprehensive strategic plan for the oncology service line, aligning with organizational goals.

+ Facilitate a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and accountability across disciplines within the service line.

+ Serve as the primary executive leader for oncology services, overseeing all operational, clinical, and financial aspects.

+ Lead multidisciplinary teams across inpatient, outpatient, and community-based oncology care settings.

Program Development & Growth

+ Design and expand clinical programs (e.g., surgical oncology, radiation oncology, medical oncology, infusion services, genetic counseling, survivorship, palliative care) in partnership with community partners.

+ Identify and pursue opportunities for service line expansion, including new technologies, clinical trials, and partnerships.

+ Lead initiatives to enhance patient access, streamline care pathways, and improve the patient experience.

Clinical Integration & Quality

+ Collaborate with physician leaders to standardize evidence-based protocols and pathways across the continuum of care.

+ Monitor and improve key performance indicators related to quality, safety, outcomes, and patient satisfaction.

+ Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within oncology services.

Financial & Operational Oversight

+ Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and capital planning for the oncology service line.

+ Ensure efficient operations and cost-effective service delivery while maintaining high-quality standards.

Stakeholder Collaboration

+ Partner with medical staff, hospital leadership, and external organizations to strengthen and grow the oncology service line.

+ Represent the oncology service line at board meetings, strategic planning sessions, and community forums.

Requirements

Education:

+ Associate's degree/Bachelor's degree with 7 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required, with 4 of those years being in leadership/management.
