JOB TITLE: Lead Youth Care Professional
POSITION GRADE: 77 [ salary range: 15.50hr-20.00hr commensurate with education and experience]
DEPARTMENT: RTF/Community Group Homes
SUPERVISOR: Program Manager
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the general direction of the Program Manager, the Lead Youth Care Professional provides care and supervision of youth and exercises a leadership role (Shift Charge) in carrying out program operations, Counselors, delegating responsibilities and demonstrating initiative and leadership skills with providing high quality of care each shift. Carries out all job responsibilities with fidelity and accountability to the Agency’s Mission, Vision, Values, Guiding Principles and Strategic Plan.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
+ Exercises full compliance with the Agency’s Code of Conduct, all Agency Policies and Procedures.
+ Maintains confidentiality & security for all client/staff related materials/records.
+ Provides individual and group supervision accounting for all youth in care
+ Employs approved crisis intervention/prevention techniques utilizing accepted practices per agency policy and procedures
+ Reports medical problems to the program Nurse and follows all medical directions and care plans
+ Upholds all rules and structure within the residence
+ Facilitates at least one fire drill per month
+ Provides a safe environment for youth and staff utilizing the Sanctuary model
+ Exercises full compliance with Agency code of conduct, all Agency policies and procedures and Federal and State laws and regulations
+ Reads and becomes familiar with program policy manual and
+ Assumes a leadership role among YCP staff regularly overseeing staff compliance with program policies while performing their regular YCP duties
+ Acts as Program Supervisor at least one shift per week demonstrating judgment, decision making, problem solving with program operations (milieu management, behavior management/ICMP implementation, treatment plan goals/objectives
+ Participates in on-going training and staff development provided by the Program and/or Agency
+ Provides feedback through Communication Protocol regarding the shift
+ Provides mentorship to YCP’s in directing youth through their daily routines and programs leading and participating in recreation and leisure time activities.
+ Ensures shift responsibilities are completed and documented in client records through documentation auditing. This includes service delivery documentation.
+ Utilizes relationships to help residents cope more effectively
+ Demonstrates, promotes and practices cultural competency towards residents, families and staff with respect and understanding achieved through training and Agency cultural activates
+ Develops relationships with all residents to promote healthy growth & development
+ Utilizes tools available when purchasing clothing, food, and other supplies for the residence
+ Maintains daily logs for each resident, general log and milk usage, charts meals served (for breakfast/lunch program)
+ Directs youth in their daily routine and programs providing consistent structure for the milieu yet is flexible enough to meet the individual needs of each youth
+ Implements treatment methods and directives of each individual resident.
+ Uses behavioral management skills within the structure of the residence and out in the community
+ Understands treatment team procedures and translates them into daily life situations for residents
+ Assists youth in developing their daily living skills.
+ Facilitates Community Meetings with the residents and staff
+ As Shift Charge, delegates direct support tasks utilizing the Division of Labor.
+ Leads and participates in recreation and leisure time activities
+ Transports clients to activities and medical appointments as needed.
+ Attends, and participates in the treatment team process including meetings internally and with external providers.
+ Participates in the cleaning/upkeep of the residence; reports repairs to Program Manager
+ Facilitates relationships with community resources, (i.e. job, school, etc.) in order to monitor behavioral and social progress of the residence
+ Perform other similar duties requiring comparable skills utilizing the Sanctuary Model Guiding Principles and Seven Commitment
POSITION SPECIFICS:
Education:
+ AAS Degree in Human Services preferred; H.S Diploma or equivalent required
Experience:
+ Two years’ experience in behavioral health settings with at least one year in a residential child care setting

Position requires that the employee must be able to restrain clients utilizing Therapeutic Crisis Intervention techniques. Position also requires employee to transport clients utilizing an agency vehicle.
+ The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully complete Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Training: the ability to drop repeatedly to knees, twist and turn, exert oneself physically at an intense level, and support another adult’s weight.
