Job DescriptionTitle: Middle School Principal Qualifications:
+ Minimum of Master's Degree in school administration, terminal degree preferred
+ Valid evaluator's certification
+ Successful middle level leadership experience preferred, successful elementary or high school level leadership considered
+ Demonstrated successful instructional leadership experience
Reports to: Superintendent of SchoolsJob Goal:To lead the overall development of a middle level school committed to ensuring that all students are engaged in a safe and high quality learning environment that delivers on the shared mission, vision, and core values of the district. The principal serves as an educational leader who also has the responsibility of managing the policies, regulations, and procedures that ensure that the focus of all efforts is student learning. Performance Responsibilities:
+ Lead the recruitment, hiring, professional growth, and evaluation of all Middle School administrators, teachers, paraprofessionals, and non-professional personnel.
+ Establish and promote high standards, high expectations, and clear goals for all students and staff for academic performance and responsibility for behavior.
+ Lead efforts to create a yearly school improvement plan with academic goals based on current data.
+ Initiate and coordinate staff development for Middle School personnel to support academic goals.
+ Create, support, supervise, and evaluate effective and clear procedures for the operation and functioning of the school including: instructional programs, activities, discipline systems, building maintenance, program evaluation, personnel management, office operations, and emergency procedures.
+ Establish the master schedule for instructional programs, ensuring coordinated learning experiences for students consistent with the school’s instructional goals.
+ Supervise the instructional programs of the school by regularly observing teaching and learning to insure the implementation of the core curriculum through the use of a variety of instructional strategies and resources.
+ Assist in the development of policies, rules, and regulations governing the school district that help insure student safety, effective operation, and building compliance.
+ Develop and maintain appropriate relationships among the school and its communities through shared beliefs, cooperation, and effective outreach.
+ Work cooperatively with the elementary and junior high schools to create a seamless transition for students and programming.
+ Be responsible for the management of all accounts in accordance with district policies and practices.
+ Provide due process and assign appropriate disciplinary actions for students and/or staff in violation of district rules.
+ Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.
Terms of Employment:
+ Employed on a twelve-month basis.
+ Salary and fringe benefits set by Board of Education.
