Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Accountant provides financial controller and internal audit functions for all funds within the Division of Student Affairs. Extensive knowledge of state and university accounting rules and procedures are required in order to provide complex analysis of financial data.
For the Division of Student Affairs, the Accountant provides the Executive Director data collection, analysis, and monitoring of all funds under the division. This includes state, student fee, trust funds, grants, and foundation funds totaling $214M and updates spreadsheets which summarize complex transactions, analyze information, and prepares financial reports. Initiates e-form financial transactions. Maintains employee data including salary, benefits, work location and other pertinent information to assist the divisions managers.
For the Department of Housing and Residence Life, the Accountant provides financial controller and internal audit functions for all revenue and expenditure transactions that requires extensive knowledge of state and university accounting rules and procedures. Complex analysis and a high degree of judgment are needed to interpret and monitor all financial and personnel transactions for the entire $49 Million Housing and Residence Life budget and 34 ancillary programming accounts. The Accountant prepares multiple non standard financial reports from multiple data sources to provide accurate analysis unique to the department needed by the Associate Director for Business Services that influence departmental processes and potential revision of departmental priorities.
Minimum Experience / Education:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field, and 2 years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be proficient in MS Excel. Finalists may be required to take a proficiency test.
Preferred Education Skills and Experience:
Prefer applicants with university business, public administration, or accounting experience.
