Description of Duties:
The State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF) in Syracuse, NY invites qualified applications for the position of Senior System Developer. The Senior Network Administrator (Senior Programmer/Analyst) position at the College of Environmental Science and Forestry is a critical role within the Computing and Network Services unit. This position is designed to ensure the robust and efficient operation of the college's network infrastructure, which is essential for supporting the academic and administrative functions of the institution.
The role offers a professional rank of SL-4 with a salary range in the mid-high 70's, depending on qualifications. The successful candidate will work closely with the CIO/Director of IT to maintain and enhance the campus's wired, wireless, and data center networks, contributing to the overall IT strategy and security posture of the college
Primary Responsibilities
Reporting to, and working with, the CIO/Director of IT, the Senior Network Administrator is responsible for the implementation, administration, and maintenance of network infrastructure and monitoring technologies, including all levels of the campus wired, wireless, and data center networks and supporting systems, and serving the needs of the College's faculty, staff, and students with third level service request support related to data communication, network connectivity, and various other IT systems. The Senior Network Administrator also assists in developing and maintaining ESF's disaster recovery plan and security policies/procedures, as required, maintains/monitors data closet/server space APC and EATON power equipment and environmental monitors, and assists with fulfilling campus obligations regarding hosted/local Ellucian Banner system components. This position also supports staff performing log analysis by implementing/maintaining network data acquisition technology.
Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree and three years' experience working with computing and network systems required.
+ Advanced technical experience and understanding of campus network switching/routing/firewalling, including configuration/deployment, administration, performance optimization/trouble-shooting, and multi-site management is required.
+ Experience troubleshooting, maintaining, and documenting physical network infrastructure is also required.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Master's degree in an IT-related field.
+ Working knowledge in the areas Windows Server and Unix/Linux use/administration.
+ Experience setting up and maintaining VMWare infrastructure technologies
+ Knowledge of at least one major programming and scripting language.
+ Demonstrated experience with firewall administration and site-to-site VPN configuration across multiple firewall technologies including Fortinet, Cisco, and other.
+ Certifications in HPE-Aruba/Cisco or other networking, Microsoft, VMWare Data Center/Security infrastructure technologies.
+ Experience supporting multi-vendor, multi-platform data center and campus network infrastructure.
+ Experience with HPE/Aruba switching technologies.
+ Experience with HPE iMC network management platform.
+ Experience with Fortinet wireless technology configuration, maintenance, and management.
+ Experience with Aruba ClearPass policy manager.
Additional Information:
