What You’ll Work On

We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Manager, Software Engineering, Solution Architecture to lead the next generation of Campbell Scientific’s products. This individual will shape the future of our technology platforms across cloud, web, and legacy systems, and play a key role in evaluating and integrating software assets from recent and future acquisitions.

You’ll Support Your Team by Performing the Following Key Tasks

+ Architectural Strategy & Leadership

+ Define and own the enterprise-wide software architecture roadmap across cloud (Azure & AWS), edge, and on-prem environments.

+ Lead and mentor a team of Solution Architects and provide architectural direction to cross-functional engineering teams.

+ Collaborate closely with Product and Project Management to align software design with business and customer needs through build-vs-buy analysis.

+ Modernization & Cloud Transformation

+ Design and implement Kubernetes-based cloud environments for scalable, multi-cloud deployments on Azure and AWS.

+ Lead the migration of legacy Windows and Linux C++ applications—including outdated Windows GUIs—to a modern, client-server architecture.

+ Acquisition Integration

+ Evaluate acquired software assets for strategic fit and redundancy.

+ Identify and preserve unique value while eliminating redundant or outdated technologies.

+ ​Open Source Strategy

+ Recommend and adopt open-source solutions where appropriate to reduce development overhead and increase agility.

+ Evaluate current proprietary solutions and lead efforts to replace them with open-source alternatives where they better serve the company’s strategic goals.

+ ​Cross-Team Collaboration

+ Provide architectural guidance and governance across multiple software teams and geographies.

What We're Looking For

+ Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

+ 10+ years in software architecture, including at least 5 years in a lead or chief architect role.

+ Proven experience designing cloud-native applications with Kubernetes and container orchestration, deployed across Azure and AWS.

+ Strong background in modern web application architecture and cloud services integration.

+ Hands-on experience modernizing legacy C++ applications (Windows/Linux), especially GUI-based interfaces, into scalable client-server models.

+ Demonstrated success integrating software platforms and technologies acquired through M&A activity.

+ Strong knowledge of when and how to apply open-source tools to improve cost-effectiveness and reduce technical debt.

+ Excellent leadership, communication, and mentoring skills.

+ Proven ability to work cross-functionally with product, engineering, and executive stakeholders.

+ Experience in industrial IoT, environmental monitoring, or scientific instrumentation domains.

+ Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and regulatory/compliance requirements in scientific or industrial sectors.

Work Environment

Typical office work environment with computer workstation and travel environment (traveling to meet with clients, potential clients, and to industry tradeshows and conferences).

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds over short distances as needed while fulfilling job responsibilities. Must be capable of sitting for extended periods of time, bending, twisting, and other movement consistent with office environments.
