    Duties Description New York City Children's Center (NYCCC) is recruiting for an experienced Recreation Therapist to provide recreation therapy services and activities to youth with psychiatric diagnosis. Candidates from outside or within State Service can applyAs a Recreation Therapist, you will assist higher-level recreation therapists in the development and implementation of recreation therapy programs including: • Coordinating recreation therapy activities for individuals and groups• Observing and recording individuals’ participation, progress, and responses and making recommendations to treatment plans as needed• Maintaining and documenting individual’s records

     

    Minimum Qualifications Candidates from outside or within State service may be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement - Statewide (NY HELPS) program if they have:• Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation; or• A bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Physical Education or Adaptive Physical Education and 1 year of experience in planning and administering a therapeutic recreation program which involved developing and coordinating therapeutic recreational activities for geriatric patients/residents, individuals with developmental disabilities, individuals with psychiatric disabilities, individuals that are physically challenged, or individuals in treatment for chemical dependency; or• Current credentials as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) issued by the National Council For Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC); or• Current licensure by NYS as a Creative Arts TherapistORCandidates from outside or within State service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they are reachable on the current Recreation Therapist eligible list.ORCandidates from within State service may be considered for transfer to a competitive class position if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

If you are appointed and are required to become a Medicare Provider and lose the ability to bill through Medicare and Medicaid, you may be terminated from your employment.
