    Duties Description The duties and responsibilities of the Receptionist include, but are not limited to:• Serving as the first point-of-contact as the Receptionist for the Clay Pit Ponds Nature Interpretive Center, including answering telephones; taking and relaying messages; greeting staff, visitors, and patrons in a friendly and courteous manner; and utilizing a multi-line phone system.• Performing office tasks such as data entry, filing, alphabetizing, copying, and other related tasks using computers, scanners, and other standard office equipment.• Handling complaints or inquiries from park patrons regarding the quality of their experience, the cleanliness of facilities, noise from other facility users, and other customer service issues.• Updating calendars and logs for front desk operations.• Monitoring permits and permit calendar.• Updating programing and event signage at the Nature Interpretive Center bulletin boards.• Assisting with programing and event set up and strike.• Keep inventory of supplies needed in the Nature Interpretive Center offices.• Opening and closing the facility ensuring facility is secured prior to arming the alarm system.• Performing general park and facility maintenance, including cleaning restrooms, sweeping, and dusting.• Other duties as assigned.

     

    Minimum Qualifications NO MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS TITLE PER CIVIL SERVICE.

     

    Additional Comments OPERATIONAL NEEDS:• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment. If not licensed at the time of appointment, the appointee must obtain a driver’s license without restrictions or conditions within the term of probation.• Must be able to write and communicate proficiently in English. The ability to communicate in Spanish is helpful but not required.• Prior business office experience and some college studies preferred.• Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, work independently and set priorities as assigned by supervisor.• Must possess strong interpersonal and communications skills.• Must possess strong computer and spreadsheet skills, including Microsoft Office applications.• Must be willing to support additional tasks and projects as assigned• Must be willing to occasionally support tasks and projects at other New York State Parks’ work sites in the New York City Region.BENEFITS: This position has the option to join the NYS Employee’s Retirement System and may be eligible for health insurance, dental and vision coverage as well as the opportunity for paid time off in the form of vacation, sick, personal and holiday leave after time and service requirements has been met.To learn more about our benefits, visit: https://parks.ny.gov/employment/benefits.aspx
