Job Description
General Description
The Tech Talent Pipeline Residency Program (TTPR), an internship placement program for computer science students at CUNY City Tech, seeks an experienced technical instructor for a ten-week web development bootcamp. The instructor must have JavaScript and web development expertise and classroom experience. Experience in the tech industry is a strong plus. This role is ideal for individuals who possess a deep passion for teaching and a commitment to increasing diversity in the tech industry.
Start Date: 2 June, 2025End Date: 22 August, 2025Location: New York City College of Technology (City Tech), CUNY, Brooklyn, NY (On-site)
Other Duties
The instructor’s primary responsibility will be instructing students throughout their full-stack development bootcamp. The curriculum will largely be project based with students building individual and group projects in class. The instructor will have the support of the TTPR’s program manager, tech advisor, faculty advisor, and three TAs to utilize during the bootcamp. There will be an additional week before and after the bootcamp period to prepare and conduct evaluations.
+ Refine the curriculum and choose the resources and learning platform(s) to use. This will be done in collaboration with the TTPR’s program manager and tech advisor
+ Develop and deliver engaging lectures and presentations on development topics
+ Design and implement hands-on projects and assignments that allow students to apply web development concepts in practical settings
+ Provide guidance and support to students as they work on individual and group projects
+ Evaluate student performance using formal and informal assessments and provide constructive feedback to help them improve their skills
+ Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
+ A degree or alternative education in computer science or related fields
+ Strong background in web development
+ Expertise in JavaScript or other object-oriented programming languages
+ Experience with GitHub, SQL, and real-world data sets
+ Experience with cloud services (preferably AWS)
+ Experience in a teaching or mentorship role, and a demonstrated ability for creating a welcoming and open learning environment
+ Familiarity with Generative AI tools is preferred but not required
+ Tech industry experience and experience recruiting for tech roles are a plus
+ Experience/familiarity with .NET technologies is a plus
