Job Title: Electrical Engineer I
Job Description:
This role is responsible for the design, modeling, development, and testing of machines, structures, or systems supporting a natural gas distribution and infrastructure renewal project. The engineer will develop functional requirements and apply standard engineering principles to create simulations and prototypes, evaluate preliminary designs, and assess system performance. Responsibilities include designing and testing components, integrating systems, monitoring product quality, and optimizing process efficiency. The engineer will also evaluate overall design effectiveness, cost, reliability, and safety, and investigate root causes of failures to recommend improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Create engineering drawings using AutoCAD and prepare related documentation and administrative paperwork.
+ Collaborate with project managers and construction crews to ensure accurate project execution.
+ Serve as a point of contact for third-party mechanical contractors and address project-related inquiries.
+ Develop and maintain internal and external project documentation.
+ Monitor the quality of work and contribute to process improvements.
Typical Day:
+ Prepare and pull project documentation.
+ Draft and revise engineering drawings.
+ Collaborate with internal teams and external contractors on active projects.
Team Structure:
+ Work closely with project managers and field construction crews.
+ Engage in a mix of individual tasks and collaborative efforts.
Customer Interaction:
+ Support both internal business teams and external partners or vendors.
Required Skills and Tools:
+ Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite.
+ Strong organizational and communication skills.
+ Technical writing capabilities.
Preferred Background:
+ Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferred electrical engineering background).
+ CAD experience is required.
+ Experience with engineering fluid dynamics, manufacturing, or welding is a plus.
+ No prior professional experience is required, though it is beneficial.
Work Environment:
+ Full-time role with standard 8-hour workdays.
+ Overtime is rarely required.
+ Learning is hands-on with an estimated 5-week ramp-up period for processes and procedures.
