Job Description

If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to become a key player in promoting community safety as a Community Corrections Program Monitor at the Iowa Department of Corrections – 6th District.
We value initiative and independent judgment, and you will be part of a cohesive multidisciplinary team, working collaboratively to observe and assess client behaviors and interactions. Your exceptional communication skills and ability to build quality relationships with clients will be essential in driving positive change.
Your responsibilities will be to provide weekly group facilitation of educational/cognitive-based classes with expertise and high levels of fidelity, including preparation and familiarity with classroom material. Other duties will include providing and coordinating low-barrier educational opportunities to criminal justice involved clients. This will involve high levels of direct educational services including provision of tutoring and specially designed instruction that meet diverse and often complex educational needs.

You will have a variable schedule which may include nights and weekends.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:
+ Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate’s degree in any field, and experience equal to one year of full-time work in human services, criminal justice, or corrections.
+ A total of three years of education and/or full-time experience (as described in number one), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university coursework in any field equals one year of full-time experience.
+ Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes six months of full-time work as a Probation/Parole Officer 1 or Residential Officer Senior.
