Job Title: Senior Human Resources Manager Location: Alexandria VA (onsite) Department: Human Resources Employment Type: Full-Time Position Summary The Senior Human Resources Manager provides strategic leadership and operational oversight of the HR function, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and priorities. This role involves managing HR operations, overseeing employee lifecycle processes, and driving initiatives in talent acquisition, development, performance management, and compliance. The Senior HR Manager is also responsible for cultivating a positive workplace culture and serving as a trusted advisor to senior leaders. Key Responsibilities
+ Participate in defining goals and decisions for the HR department. Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures for continuous improvement and efficiency of department and services.
+ Act as a strategic partner to leadership, providing guidance on workforce planning, organizational design, and change management.
+ Monitor HR metrics and provide regular reports to leadership on key performance indicators.
+ Oversee the recruitment process, ensuring the attraction and retention of top talent.
+ Collaborate with hiring managers to identify staffing needs and create job descriptions, identify roles and responsibilities, and implement effective hiring practices.
+ Lead efforts to enhance employee engagement, retention, and career development initiatives.
+ Serve as primary point of contact for employee relations issues and concerns that impact employee satisfaction, work environment, and retention; ensuring resolution aligns with organizational policies and values.
+ Evaluate and execute employment decisions related to hiring, discipline, and terminations. Ensure adherence to company policies and compliance with relevant federal, state, and local laws and regulations in collaboration with HR Policy and Communication as needed.
+ Partner with legal counsel as needed to address employment-related matters.
+ Oversee the implementation and continuous improvement of performance appraisal systems, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
+ Drive performance management and succession planning processes, identify talent gaps in critical/key roles, and recommend actionable solutions. Partner with managers to deliver constructive feedback and foster a culture of coaching and mentorship.
+ Develop and execute impactful training and development initiatives to enhance employee skills, strengthen leadership capabilities, and support career growth.
+ Collaborate with compensation and benefits teams to ensure competitive and equitable offerings.
+ Provide insights into salary benchmarking, benefits design, and rewards programs to support talent attraction and retention.
+ Develop, update, and communicate HR policies and procedures.
+ Identify and implement process improvements to enhance HR efficiency and effectiveness.
+ Develop, update, and communicate HR policies, procedures, and initiatives. Identify and implement process improvements to optimize HR operations.
+ Drive initiatives to promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging within the organization.
Qualifications Education and Experience:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
+ 8–10 years of HR experience, including at least 3–5 years in a managerial or senior-level role.
Certifications (Preferred):
+ Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR)
+ SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP)
Skills and Competencies:
+ Strong knowledge of HR best practices, employment law, and compliance requirements.
+ Demonstrated ability to lead and influence at all levels of an organization.
+ Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
+ Experience with HRIS systems (e.g., Workday, ADP, Oracle).
+ Analytical skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
Work Environment:
+ Typical office setting with occasional travel for meetings or training as required.
