Job Summary
Savannah Technical College’s Public Relations and Marketing Department is seeking a dedicated and talented Communications Manager to join our team. Under the direction of the Assistant Vice President for Marketing and Public Relations, this role contributes to the college's mission by overseeing workflow strategy and implementing effective marketing and communications efforts. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in promoting Savannah Tech's reputation, programs, and successes.

Responsibilities
+ Media Relations: Build and foster strong relationships with journalists, media outlets, bloggers, and influencers to promote Savannah Technical College’s programs. Pitch creative story ideas, coordinate interviews, and manage press releases to ensure high-quality media coverage.
+ Content Creation: Assist in the development of compelling press releases, media kits, and pitches. Collaborate with the marketing team on social media content, newsletters, and other communication channels to engage the college community and amplify key initiative messaging.
+ Research and Analysis: Conduct thorough research to understand industry trends, analyze competitive activities, and gauge audience preferences. Track campaign metrics and media coverage to measure success, reporting findings and opportunities for growth.
+ Influencer Outreach: Identify and establish strategic partnerships with influencers and community leaders to promote Savannah Technical College and its programs, milestones, and achievements.
+ Event Coordination: Support and manage impactful events such as press conferences, program launches, and media briefings. Oversee event logistics, develop guest lists, and ensure seamless on-site coordination with media and photographers.
+ Flexibility and Prioritization: Handle multiple projects simultaneously while managing shifting priorities in a high-energy, fast-paced work environment.
+ Administrative Support: Assist with scheduling meetings, managing internal calendars, and organizing files and documents to support efficient communication efforts.
+ Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Preferred Qualifications
+ Five (5) years of professional experience in communications, public relations, or media relations.
+ Outstanding writing and editing skills with a talent for storytelling and attention to detail.
+ Proficiency in social media management and analytics tools for content performance tracking.
+ Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and with external stakeholders.
+ Familiarity with CRM tools such as Salesforce, MailChimp or Constant Contact is a plus.
+ Prior experience working with high-profile leaders is preferred.
+ Basic design skills for creating and editing social media posts or print materials.
+ Basic web editing/design skills.
+ Ability to manage multiple projects in a high-volume environment while delivering exceptional customer service.

Physical Demands:
Responsibilities are typically performed in an office or classroom/lab environment with the employee intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing and pulling for up to three (3) – four (4) continuous hours at a time. Full range of hand and finger motion may be utilized for data entry purposes.
Salary/Benefits:
Salary is commensurate with education and work experience.
