The Valent BioSciences manufacturing site located on an expansive 73-acre site in Osage, IA is a state of the art 130,000 square foot plant and is the largest purpose-built biorational facility in the world. It serves as the manufacturing and quality control center for Valent BioSciences broad portfolio of fermentation products.
Description of Job:
As the Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) at Valent BioSciences you will work closely with the HR Manager and Site Leadership Team to develop and implement HR strategies that align with organizational goals. In this role you will drive HR effectiveness by managing core functions such as compliance, talent acquisition, employee engagement, and administrative operations. You will serve as a key advisor, fostering a positive and compliant workplace culture while ensuring operational efficiency.
Essential Functions:
HR Compliance & Employee Relations
+ Provide HR policy guidance and ensure compliance with employment laws and internal policies.
+ Serve as a trusted partner in employee relations, managing concerns, investigations, PIPs, conflict resolution, and terminations with HR Manager oversight.
+ Administer leave of absence programs (FMLA, ADA) and return-to-work processes.
+ Maintain accurate records for I-9s, personnel files, screenings, and background checks.
+ Assist employees with benefits questions in coordination with the Benefits Manager.
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Management
+ Manage full-cycle recruitment, including job postings, interviews, offers, and onboarding via ADP.
+ Support leadership development through coaching, high-potential identification, and collaboration with the HR Trainer.
+ Coordinate employee movements (promotions, transfers) and ensure updated job descriptions and org charts.
HR Operations & Reporting
+ Oversee HR administrative tasks including timekeeping, benefit changes, and records management.
+ Analyze attendance and performance data to support supervisors.
+ Compile monthly HR reports and track key metrics.
+ Manage employment verifications and unemployment claims.
+ Supervise the Administrative Assistant to ensure seamless HR support.
Employee Engagement & Communications
+ Develop and distribute HR communications to promote site-wide engagement.
+ Administer the site Facebook page with timely and engaging content.
+ Coordinate recognition programs, service awards, and site events.
+ Lead Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts and community involvement tracking.
Facility & Administrative Oversight
+ In partnership with the Administrative Assistant, manage company duplex reservations, cleaning, and inventory.
+ Prepare and distribute the site’s monthly report to leadership.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in HR, Business, or related field.
+ 5–7 years of HR or supervisory experience.
+ Strong knowledge of federal and Iowa employment laws.
+ Proficiency in MS Office and ADP Workforce Now.
+ Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills.
+ High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
+ HR certifications (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP/SCP) preferred.
+ Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive matters with discretion.

Base Salary: The estimated annual base salary for this position ranges from: $64,900 to $79,500. Individual pay is based upon location, skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
Incentives: All full-time employees are eligible for an incentive program or profit-sharing program in addition to their base salary.
