Job Title: Chemist 2Job Description

We are looking for a Chemist II/Scientist I with an intermediate level of expertise in analytical chemistry and chromatographic methods of analysis. The successful candidate will provide support and guidance to associate scientists, perform accurate routine chemical testing, and assist with troubleshooting instrumentation.

Responsibilities

+ Perform accurate routine chemical testing and chromatographic methods of analysis (HPLC, GC, TLC, FTIR, pH, UV-Vis) to meet departmental objectives.

+ Audit chemistry SOPs and update and write new procedures to ensure compliance and accuracy.

+ Assist in the formal training of lab personnel on topics such as GMP, safety, antineoplastic, and new employee training.

+ Provide technical support for methods validations.

+ Apply computer experience to perform data collection and analysis of testing data to meet departmental objectives.

+ Troubleshoot instrumentation by applying problem-solving skills and sourcing literature or vendors if necessary. Assist Associate Chemist personnel in troubleshooting difficulties.

+ Maintain accurate records of all work performed with respect to a given project. Ensure documentation meets facility audit as well as cGMP or GLP requirements.

+ Establish work priorities based on schedule needs using own judgment and objective reasoning.

Essential Skills

+ Degree in Chemistry preferred (will consider Biology with significant/sufficient Chemistry experience).

+ 1 to 4 years of experience in a regulated industry (Pharma preferred) doing chemistry lab work as a chemist.

+ Analytical chemistry skills including HPLC, UV, FTIR, and GC.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience with ICP-MS is a plus.

+ Experience with Empower software is a plus.

Work Environment

This position is based in a Pharma Chemistry QC Lab in Melrose Park. The work schedule is 8am - 5pm, Monday to Friday. There is an opportunity to go permanent on the team in 2026 and work on new pharmaceutical products.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $32.00/hr.
