Job Description
The manufacturing packaging engineer will support all aspects of production packaging systems, providing an emphases on continuous improvement of manufacturing and packaging effectiveness. Will develop and complete documentation of sustainable processes and support maintenance of the technical library.
Responsibilities Include
- Implement new packaging technology into assigned equipment.
- Study, evaluate, develop, implement, test, recommend changes to new technology all the way through the implementation stage.
- Analyze production data from various sources to identify a number of sources, including systems data; identify opportunities for productivity/cost reduction activities.
- Work with Dairy Based Production Engineering, R&D and Quality Departments with direct-to-functional cross-functional teams on packaging areas of improvement.
- Analyze performance trends/data collection; create and analyze KPI indicators to ensure timely completion; analyze line losses for assets/utilization rates.
- Support production processes by seeking out opportunities for improvement in materials usage rates/yield/labor utilization/line process changes.
- Troubleshoot manufacturing issues by seeking out opportunities for improvement in materials usage rates/yield/labor utilization/line process changes.
Data Collection & Analysis
- Collects production data from various sources (including systems data) such as time sheets, raw material data product yields etc., analyzes performance trends/data collection creates KPI indicators ensures timely completion analyzes line losses assets/utilization rates.
- Conducts root cause analysis on record reviews Assess deviations using statistical analysis verify compliance to standards.
Project Management
- Manages projects related to continuous improvement initiatives within assigned technologies Validate line change requests ensuring that they are properly documented validated prior implementation

Problem solving and troubleshooting
- Troubleshoots manufacturing issues related to listed cottage cheese sour cream product lines ensures that they arise from proper root causes

Continuous Improvement Initiatives Implementation
- Supports continuous improvement initiatives by providing technical expertise on processes/technology working together with other departments such as Dairy Based Production Engineering R&D Quality Departments direct functional cross-functional teams packaging areas improvements
MUST HAVE
1. Bachelors of engineering in packaging engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or chemical engineering
2. 3+ years of packaging engineering systems within an automated packaging process, preferably from the food industry
3. Experience with engineering packaging processes
4. Continuous improvement experience
NICE TO HAVE
1. Masters degree
2. Project management experience
3. Lean manufacturing/ six sigma/ continuous improvement experience with root cause, TPM, Kaizen, autonomous maintenance
4. Certifications in HACCP, USDA, FDA, OSHA, GMP, SPC, Green/black belt
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $90000.00/yr.
Benefits are 100% covered by employer.

Relocation assistance:- Lump sum amount at completion of relocation.- Full cost of real estate commission for the sale of home (up to 6% of the sale price) to be paid upon the sale of home & proof of purchase submission. This amount is taxed, but the amount will be grossed up to cover the taxes.- Reimbursement for the full cost of a professional pack and move service to be paid upon completion of relocation to the Wooster, Ohio, area and proof of purchase submission. Reimbursement requires three bids and approval by Daisy Brand prior to finalizing mover. This amount is taxed, but the amount will be grossed up to cover the taxes.
- Sign-on bonus , paid in the second week of employment.
