Job Title: Construction Inspector
Job Description
As a Construction Inspector, you will perform daily inspections of construction projects, ensuring quality and adherence to building code requirements, construction drawings, and project specifications. Your role may involve inspections across multiple disciplines or within a specific area of expertise, including structural steel, concrete, masonry, and fireproofing. You will conduct visual and physical inspections, and field testing to verify conformance with plans and specifications. You will also prepare inspection reports and provide written documentation of observations and testing of materials. Effective communication with engineers or project managers is essential, as you may collaborate with project teams on solutions to potential issues. Strict adherence to safety standards is required.
Responsibilities
+ Perform testing, observation, and inspection as directed in accordance with training and specified procedures to determine if work is done according to contract specifications.
+ Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
+ Provide clear documentation of findings and results.
+ Prepare inspection reports and document nonconformance.
+ Perform basic analysis of data to verify accuracy before communication and submittal to the Project Manager.
+ Communicate information to the Project Manager and other personnel as directed.
+ Interact with clients and other site personnel to provide input on appropriate resolution of findings.
+ Assist the Project Manager in development of scope for testing and inspection services.
+ Coordinate pre-dispatch activities with Project, Department, and/or Office Managers.
+ Maintain equipment operation and assist more sr inspectors on large, complex projects.
+ Follow safety rules and practices and other safety requirements for all projects.
+ Perform pre-task planning prior to executing work and report any safety issues or concerns to management.
+ Maintain quality standards on all projects.
Essential Skills
+ Minimum 2 years' experience with structural steel bolting and structural steel welding.
+ ACI Certification required.
+ WABO certification required.
+ CWI Certification highly preferred.
+ Proficient in construction inspection techniques and equipment use.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Proprietary anchors, reinforced concrete, post tension, firestopping, and structural wood certifications are preferred.
+ Valid driver's license required.
+ Experience with nuclear density gauge and aggregate testing.
Work Environment
The work environment is onsite at construction projects primarily located between Tacoma, Seattle, and Bellevue. The majority of work is commercial, with minimal involvement in transportation projects. Schedulers strive to assign projects close to employees' homes, reducing travel requirements. Employees are encouraged to continue their certification process and advance their careers, working on high-profile projects
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $35.00/hr.
