Job Title: Phlebotomist-Manahawkin 1Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Phlebotomist to join our busy site in Manahawkin. The ideal candidate will primarily focus on blood draws and also have the opportunity to learn front desk and accessioning duties over time. This position demands a professional who can handle high-volume blood draws, manage specimens, and communicate effectively with patients of all ages.

Responsibilities

+ Perform high-volume blood draws, ensuring accuracy and patient comfort.

+ Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.

+ Explain the venipuncture and other specimen collection processes clearly and courteously to patients.

+ Demonstrate technique using straight needles and butterfly needles.

+ Understand and execute all physicians' orders.

+ Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes, label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required.

+ Verify test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for 100% accuracy.

+ Package specimens for transport and store them according to required temperatures.

+ Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.

+ Attend annual department trainings.

+ Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.

Essential Skills

+ Phlebotomy expertise with a minimum of 1-year experience in high-volume blood draws.

+ Experience working with patients from babies to geriatrics.

+ Reliability and consistent performance in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Customer service skills are advantageous.

+ Ability to handle a minimum of 30 patients per day, with higher volumes expected in summer.

Work Environment

The work schedule is Monday to Friday from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, with alternating Saturdays from 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM. The site is a busy location, especially during summer months, and is equipped with a site coordinator and three phlebotomists to manage the high patient volume.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.50 - $19.70/hr.
