Job Title: Energy MarshalJob Description
You will be responsible for overseeing the energy isolation program on the construction site for all systems with stored energy. You will ensure all activities related to the energy isolation process are coordinated and executed by the General Contractor and Trades across the assigned locations according to established policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
+ Ensure safe working conditions by reviewing documentation including procedures, job hazard analysis, and permits.
+ Audit the energy isolation program for construction, commissioning, maintenance, and operations activities.
+ Work with construction and commissioning teams to ensure safe working conditions to properly test and validate installation, operation, and performance of MEP systems.
+ Support the management of the electrical infrastructures throughout the datacenter campus, ranging from a single large capacity facility to several smaller ones.
+ Validate general contractor safe work practices and Lock Out Tag Out procedures for 120V and below, 480V, 7.2-14kV, and 25kV values.
+ Trace down electrical power through double and triple redundant electrical systems and validate a zero-energy state.
+ Hold General Contractor, Electrical, Mechanical, and Equipment Vendor Technicians accountable to policy.
+ Partner closely with Environmental Health and Safety teams to drive Operational Excellence in the Control of Hazardous Energy.
+ Train new and existing employees in defined Energy Isolation processes and procedures.
+ Communicate and coordinate effectively with Project Management and Trades Persons on the project.
+ Work in a commercial construction site environment with highly knowledgeable and qualified individuals as it relates to their skillset.
+ Understand electrical and mechanical equipment energization, start up, and commissioning.
Essential Skills
+ Strong experience with the control of hazardous energy, risk assessments, and work procedure review.
+ Understanding of power distribution, lighting, grounding, control systems, pneumatics, fluid systems, and mechanical energies.
+ Established understanding of electrical theory and practical application via maintenance and operation of critical electrical equipment.
+ Experience with paralleling switchgear, redundant UPS systems, DC battery strings, multi-source electrical utility switchgear, and standby diesel generators.
+ Knowledge of construction techniques, terminology, and documentation.
+ Ability to interpret blueprints, electrical one-lines, and construction drawings.
+ Practical experience with Lock-out/Tag-out and verifying MEP systems in a zero-energy state.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ 10 years of relevant experience.
+ Electrician work – 7 years.
+ Data Center experience – 5 years.
+ Mission critical build experience – 5 years.
+ Education: NFPA70E certification.
+ BA in electrical engineering preferred but not required.
Work Environment
You will work in a commercial construction site environment with highly knowledgeable and qualified individuals. The role involves ensuring operational excellence in all aspects of the Control of Hazardous Energy and working closely with Environmental Health and Safety teams. The position requires effective communication and coordination with Project Management and Trades Persons.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $67.00/hr.
