Job Title: Sr. Accountant
Job Description
The Sr. Accountant will work closely with the Controller and team to support the company by performing month-end close, reconciliations, and providing insight on various accounting and financial matters. You will maintain the general ledger, prepare journal entries, perform account analysis, and close books monthly. Additionally, you will assist in updating and implementing company policies and procedures, and identify opportunities to efficiently provide fiduciary leadership while promoting a strong internal controls environment.
Responsibilities
+ Maintain general ledger including preparation of journal entries, account analysis, reconciliations, and closing books monthly.
+ Perform analysis and lend insight on ad hoc projects, including lease accounting, sales and use tax preparation and filing, FP&A, financial reporting related projects, resolution of accounting issues, process improvements, tax schedules, and sales by state.
+ Collaborate with other key members of the organization.
+ Assist in updating and implementing company policies and procedures.
+ Identify opportunities to efficiently provide fiduciary leadership and promote a strong internal controls environment.
+ Support and improve business processes and accounting systems to ensure the accuracy, usefulness, and timeliness of financial statements provided to management.
+ Assist in compliance with Sarbanes/Oxley, including active participation in control matrix and process narrative updates, adherence to accounting policies and procedures, and development and implementation of new controls, policies, and procedures.
+ Prepare interpretive analysis of business performance for management use.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
+ Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Staff/General Ledger Accountant, Accounting Supervisor, or Accounting Manager in a manufacturing environment.
+ AS400 Legacy ERP experience preferred.
+ Advanced skills in Excel, Microsoft Office, and PDF.
+ Strong knowledge and understanding of accounting practices and principles, financial statements, and financial analysis methods and tools.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience and training that provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
+ General ledger maintenance and month-end close experience.
+ Experience with manufacturing cost accounting and sales tax preparation.
+ Knowledge of Sarbanes/Oxley compliance.
Work Environment
The position is based in an office environment with a cubical setup, separate from the production floor and located in a different building. The role offers full medical, dental, and vision benefits through BCBS of Illinois. Employees receive 2 weeks of vacation, with the potential for advancement. The company values long tenure in roles, as evidenced by this position opening due to a retirement after 35 years.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $90000.00/yr.
