Job Title: Senior Investment AccountantJob Description

As a Senior Investment Accountant, you will be responsible for the monthly and quarterly accounting and reporting of fixed maturity and equity securities. This includes handling journal entry activity, reconciliations, and preparing statutory disclosures and schedules. You will work closely with third-party accounting service providers to ensure accurate and timely accounting and reporting of investments. Additionally, you will prepare quarterly IMR and AVR calculations and manage RBC investment data entry for quarterly and annual reporting.

Responsibilities

+ Prepare and manage journal entries and reconciliations for fixed maturity and equity securities.

+ Collaborate with third-party accounting service providers for accurate investment accounting and reporting.

+ Prepare quarterly IMR and AVR calculations.

+ Enter RBC investment data into the RBC template quarterly and into WINGS for annual reporting.

+ Upload and create schedules in WINGS for Blue Book reporting, and reconcile cross-check errors with the Financial Reporting team.

+ Provide necessary information, reports, and analysis for internal/external auditors and internal controls.

+ Perform ad hoc reporting and other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

+ Proficiency in accounting and the monthly close process.

+ Experience in investment accounting and handling the general ledger.

+ Ability to perform journal entries and understand the month-end close process.

+ Bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited college or university in accounting, finance, or a related field.

+ Five years of progressively responsible related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

+ Knowledge of the monthly and annual NAIC rating process.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Prior experience with Blackrock Aladdin Accounting system, WINGS, SAP, and MS Excel.

+ CPA certification is desirable but not required.

Work Environment

The role offers a hybrid work environment, ideally based in the Des Moines market. Currently, employees are expected to be in the office for three days a week.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $110000.00/yr.
