Job Description
We are seeking a Sr Credit & Collections Manager to manage and direct the daily activities of our credit, collections, and chargeback team. This role involves conducting periodic credit reviews, monitoring risk for new and existing customer credit limits, establishing credit policies, and liaising with international teams to ensure a global view of customer credit risk. The manager will also oversee relations with collection agencies, prepare monthly risk analysis and chargeback reports, and support audit activities while developing the team through training and development programs.
Responsibilities
+ Manage and direct the daily activities of the credit, collections, and chargeback team.
+ Perform periodic credit reviews and monitor risk for new and existing customer credit limits.
+ Establish policies for setting credit limits and payment terms, ensuring periodic reviews and follow-up.
+ Liaise with the international credit manager/team to maintain a global view on shared customers and credit risk.
+ Manage relations and reporting with collection agencies and credit reporting agencies.
+ Actively participate in NACM credit groups or other relevant credit groups.
+ Develop and implement new credit processes domestically and internationally.
+ Prepare monthly customer and credit risk analysis reports for the management team.
+ Prepare monthly chargeback analysis reports and lead efforts to reduce chargebacks.
+ Prepare weekly short-pay reports and review balances with the collection and chargeback team.
+ Perform analysis of accounts and other accounting documents to aid in report preparation.
+ Monitor customer aging, initiate collection of past due items, and resolve customer deductions.
+ Support internal and external audit activities.
+ Monitor customer bankruptcies, initiate claim documentation, and follow-up to minimize financial loss.
+ Coach and develop team members through training, development programs, and project assignments.
+ Maintain professional working relationships with other departments and external customers.
+ Support the team with special projects and workflow process improvements.
Essential Skills
+ 10+ years of experience in credit/collections/accounts receivable.
+ 5+ years of supervisory or management experience.
+ Strong knowledge of laws and regulations concerning credit and collection issues.
+ Ability to read and analyze financial statements.
+ Experience managing credit in a consumer goods and retail environment.
+ Ability to identify potential customer credit risk factors and act appropriately.
+ Experience with importing and wholesale distribution, preferably of consumer goods.
+ Ability to create an environment that encourages teamwork and collaboration.
+ Strong ability to manage and develop people, set expectations, teach, track results, and manage accountability.
+ Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to tailor communication to the audience.
+ Excellent project management skills.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or a related field is strongly preferred.
Work Environment
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $63.00/hr.
